But turnovers are part of the game and FSU forced them.

If Pitt recovers that fumble on the kickoff following their TD, FSU would have been crapping their pants.

Pitt had one good drive the entire game. They have a lot of work to do. Let's not act like the teams were even close to the same level. Shannon has it right. I mean even the 2nd team FSU D stopped Pitt inside the red zone at the end of the game.

So is your purpose to put down all FSU opponents? You should hope that Pitt improves to help your Strength of Schedule.

If Pitt goes up 14-0 you can't say you would not have been nervous.

Stop with the "would have" and "should have". This is football. It's about what happened. The QB on Pitt in your hypothetical could have been sacked for a 10 yard loss or thrown an INT. It isn't like Pitt would have recovered in the end zone and that would have been a sure TD.

Does it make you feel good to down FSU opponents?

Pitt will get it's revenge when they crush FSU by 30 points in Basketball.

No, you are upset that Pitt scored on FSU and actually led in the game. Has you doubting if FSU is as good as you hope they are.

Are you 15 years old or something? You seem VERY sensitive and not very bright at all.

This is football. If you throw a fit and get worried after the first drive of a game, then you must be new to watching the game. Actually one of your Pitt fan's talked trash to a group of us after that TD and we just shrugged it off. Told him to come back down at the end of the game and we will talk about it. At the half he came walking down the steps (we were on the aisle), made eye contact, and just walked away. No words had to be said. He knew was an idiot to brag after one fricken drive.

Great on your basketball bragging. FSU will kill you in baseball too. That is about as relevant to a football post as the basketball stuff.

If it makes you feel better that Pitt had one good drive on FSU then have at it. It's good to find one positive when losing a game by 4 touchdowns.

Let's start a poll. Who will be FSU's NC State this year?

Wake Forest?

No Pitt fan gave them a much of a chance against FSU. We know Pitt is down right now and will struggle this year. We don't need an over-zealous FSU fan to tell us this. But be classy in your win.

Come on, man. This is pathetic. It's like all the SEC teams not in the title game chanting "SEC, SEC".

Goobers.

That's funny because they do.

FSU kicked our butts, we did some things well in the game. Can we not recognize that? We are looking to build on that for the future. We don't need someone kicking us when we are down.

I point to post #11 and #12.

That is the last I will say about this.

Once again, you are VERY sensitive. Pitt lost by 28. What you want is nobody to comment on it or no negatives to be brought out. Sorry but that isn't how it works. If I wanted to brag, I could rub it in way more. There were harsher lines said by media for God sakes. ESPN's headlines had the words "drubs' and "dismantles" and talked about FSU killing them. Maybe you should write them a detailed letter expressing your displeasure with them talking about the game.

RE: Well done FSU... Well done
Once we started to get pressure on Savage Pitt's offense fell apart. You weren't going to have success running north/south on us and you didn't. Our secondary play was hit or miss all night, which was a little alarming considering we return the most starters/experience there. And you killed us on some of those jet sweeps because we had DL playing LB on some of those plays. I think we were expecting Pitt to pound it a little more than you attempted. But I guess you did lose your top 2 RB from last year and have a pretty inexperienced OL. I'd do whatever I could to get the ball into Street and Boyd's hands 15 times a gain (screens, sweeps, reverses, bubbles, etc).

I didn't think your defense was that bad. I actually thought you got a fair amount of pressure on Winston most of the night (looking at you, Clairton). Losing a 3-year starter at RG early in the 2nd quarter didn't help. Maybe I'm wrong but I recall a lot of plays where Winston was getting the pass off with pressure right in his face. Or where he had to scramble and threw on the run off his back leg. He just put the ball where it needed to be. Dude made plays. It seems pretty clear our receivers were just way better than your DBs. I imagine that's why they were given a cushion, so they wouldn't get beat for a 70-yard TD. Definitely would rather keep the play in front of you than get burnt deep. Half our runs had nice holes. But it seemed like the other half were just good reads by our RBs and squeaking through some cutback lane. Definitely thought we had some losses/no gainers only to see someone squirt through for a few more.

Unlike most Hokies on our board, I'm picking a VT loss for that game. It amazes me that we can lose 4 in a row and people still mark up Pitt as an auto-win. I've learned my lesson. I'm picking Pitt till the streak is over.

In the next few weeks we will learn if your D is that good or Bama's OL is weak. I don't know what to expect honestly. But we have a month to figure it out.

Marge:

I'll have to watch the replay on ESPN3 later. Just from what I saw at the game It felt like the same defense was called every play. There seemed to be little creativity in the playcalling and depended on the DL to put pressure on Winston. There were far too many holes in the zone coverage IMO. Again, I'll have to rewatch it to have a better gauge of how bad they was.

And yo, TF is up w/ basketball smack in this thread... Who gives a damn about basketball after our boys just got humbled!

Glad to see all of my Clairton boys do their thing last night.

Here's a 14-minute version of the game. I counted about 14 plays where Winston was either sacked, forced to run the ball, was hit while throwing or had to move the pocket because of pressure. So about 14 out of maybe 32 called pass plays.

Actually rewatched the game earlier and just now that 14 min clip.

Offense:

Offense actually looked decent. Wished Conner got more carries in an attempt to wear down FSU's defensive front. He looked very good live and on TV. We'll develop a nice 1-2 punch w/ Bennett and Conner as the season gets rolling. Pass Blocking seemed better on TV than it did live. Only issue was blocking the designed blitz's from the secondary. Savage did decent for his first time back in 3 years. I think he'll be fine, as long as he doesn't lock onto his receivers too much. Street and Boyd will be a solid WR corps along w/ the TE weapons.

Defense:

The defense attacked more than I thought they did. Being at the game it appeared to be more "pitch and catch" than it was. The biggest issue, to me at least, was tackling. The DL, and LB's had ample chances to stop plays behind the LOS or a yard or 2 beyond the LOS. If they tackled better, this could've been a closer game. Credit gotta go to FSU players for making them miss as well. My thoughts on the secondary remain the same. They played far too off the WR's and left glaring holes in the zone for Winston to pick apart.

Best of luck to FSU. Hopefully we meet up in several ACC Championship Games between now and the time Pitt heads down to Tallahassee.
