RE: Nolan Conference Rankings - Week 1
We hang 62 on a team and have 4 players rush or over 100 yds and TXST is the best team in the conference? WKU beat Kentucky by 2TDs and TXST is the best team in the conference? Lol

RE: Nolan Conference Rankings - Week 1
I do not think I buy these rankings. The MAC has no losses to an FCS team yet and has some nice wins over teams like Tulsa and Iowa along with some strong performances against some very good competition why are we so low on this list?

Guarantee Texas Tech isn't the top team in the Big 12 either. No disrespect to the Bobcats. They could be, but after one week so could lots of teams.

RE: Nolan Conference Rankings - Week 1
You guys look at that list and are looking at the teams??
What I take out of it is after week one, the SBC is the best of the rest. Next weekend South, the UL's and Georgia St have to step it up and get our victories.

I tend to think the "best team" category is for who performed most unexpectedly.
Nice to see the Sun Belt showing up at the top of the G5 ranking.

I guess they get more points for beating an FBS team compared to us beating a Swac team, but I'd think a win over an SEC team would garner the most points.

I believe if Kentucky and USM faced each other, Kentucky would come out on top.
Now, using transitive properties (because we KNOW that works PERFECTLY in football... right?), WKU over Kentucky by 2 scores > beating USM by 1 score.
I've given up on trying to understand the rationale of rankings systems, because no two games are the same.

Hanging 62 on SWAC team is not impressive at all, there are probably about 40-50 FCS teams that can do the same. WKU beating Kentucky on the other hand is by far the best win for this week.

Also lists UTSA as CUSA's best team for beating New Mexico...
This list will fluctuate greatly throughout the season.

Actually, what ASU fans saw last night was far and way the most impressive performance by an SBC team yesterday, and the best ASU team they have seen in decades, and they know it. In time so will the fans of the other SBC teams.
As far as good teams just getting by bad teams like UAB, Kentucky or USM teams, not so much.
It is week one so I am confident your teams can still get better, and they better, before they play A-State. If not they will be embarrassed.

The WKU win was good for the team and the SBC. However, we have other conference teams that could beat Kentucky IMO. They are an average team with SEC by their names. Wish we played this year.

Lots of teams wish they could have opened with Kentucky, UAB or Southern Mississippi yesterday. Would not be 0-1 today.

RE: Nolan Conference Rankings - Week 1
alot of these statistical ranking systems become more accurate as more games are put into the algo's. I imagine this is probably the case here.
I wouldnt rank us close to number 1, but i'm glad we impressed some people. Either way, I dont think anyone is cracking jokes anymore about Texas State moving to FBS.

Ha! Didn't catch that.
I would have definitely put Marshall up over UTSA. But really... Just looking at the conference, I'd say UTSA's was the more impressive (that's discounting UTSA's status as a FBS transitional).

You will have to come see us before you go off to Cusa. There is still talk of our game with WKU could be televised on the Longhorn Network.

I'm agreeing with the Tx St fans here. Beating a down trodden SWAC is nothing to crow about.

Please, don't try to compare Garrick McGee's team to UAPB...uab put up a much better fight than they did, period. Not taking anything from stAte at all...just giving credit where it's due...
