I was active on this board after the first round of the Great Conference Realignment. I remember get in debates with a Cuse fan (frogman) and couple of UCONN fans back then. I remember how they were stating that the BE have surpassed the ACC, it was the year that WVU,RU, and UL finished ranked in the top 20. My point was back then you can not use one season to justify that train of thought. Things happens.
As I look at the situation now, the ACC had a plan and stuck with it. The ACC knew they will never get more $ than SEC, the conference they are chasing, so the ACC always took what the networks gave them. The BE always wanted more $ than ACC based on their recent success, which led to their demise.
The ACC always had a plan to raid the BE if needed. Cuse was to be part of the initial expansion. When the SEC and Big 10 expanded past 12 teams. The ACC came back for Cuse and added Pitt, which will help BC from being isolated from everybody. When Maryland jumped ship, UCONN was inked to be the next BE team to leave, then UL stepped up big time to get accepted. Plus ND came along.
The BE just self imploded in front of everybody. The failed expansion to add TCU and Boise State, which really did not make sense geographical anyway. THen the dominoes began, Rutgers, WVU, and UL left.
Hopefully the AAC learn from the mistakes, take the money and not focus on what the other conference getting. Be proactive and have a better expansion plan in place.
:cheers:Welcome to the conference, Cuse fans, UL fans, Pitt Fans, and ND fans. Will be chatting you all. btw, do not expect anything major from UM this year.
