Syracuse basketball played a 4 exhibition game tour against Canadian universities.

8/24 - Syracuse 73, Ottawa 50
8/23 - Syracuse 69, Carleton 65 OT
8/22 - Syracuse 77, Bishop's 35
8/21 - Syracuse 80, McGill 40

Carleton has won 9 of the last 11 CIS championships. CIS teams are also allowed to practice all year long. Before playing Syracuse, Carleton had crushed Towson and TCU. They also beat Wisconsin. So that's our excuse for going to OT.

Teams get to take, what, one pre-season international trip every four years is it? Pitt went to Ireland last time. Canada? I think Syracuse's team got hosed.

Playing in Southern Ontario is like home games for 'Cuse... the Syracuse, Rochester, and Watertown stations that were historically part of the Orange radio and tv network (cable stations have changed that a bit) bounced their signals nicely across Lake Ontario and into Canada... plus they're easy drives for diehard fans sooooo nice trip for 'Cuse... builds fanbase and lets the 'Cuse faithful easily travel to games if they want to!

I think Clemson took their men's team to Italy this year. Advantage: Clemson.

To be fair, I do understand why a team so close to the Canadian border might want to tour Canada... it's recruiting territory for 'Cuse.

On the other hand, maybe the Tigers were recruiting in Italy?

It is recruiting territory as we have had more than a few Canadian players on our team in recent years but I totally agree with you .. Italy is the better trip. The scenery is better in so many ways.
