RE: ESPN's ACC Basketball Schedule Released at 3PM Today
We are finally in a conference that will force Syracuse to visit VT.

http://www.hokiesports.com/mbasketball/schedule/

We don't have any ooc road games. We have a classic against VCU in Richmond and the Cancer Classic in NYC against Mich State. and OU/Seton Hall. There sure are a lot of crappy teams coming to play us though.

And those numbers go up when Louisville is added.

4 out of the 5 active Naismith coaches will be in the ACC. wow. SMU has the other one.

Louisville is the 16th winningest program.

BTW, the next winningest ACC program after NC State is Pitt, currently at #47.

UL is #12 according Wikipedia.....surprised ND is that far up there, congrats to them.

RE: ESPN's ACC Basketball Schedule Released at 3PM Today
ND has a pretty good basketball history. A lot of people are surprised at this because ND puts almost no resources into the program and doesn't do well in the NCAA playoffs.

Category: Number National Rank
All-time NCAA Tournament bids 32 T-9th
All-time NCAA Tournament wins 30 T-26th
All-time wins 1723 9th
All-time winning percentage 64.6% 13th

As an independent under Digger Phelps in the Seventies and early Eighties, ND was a giant killer.

Here is a list of #1 teams with long winning streaks that ND knocked off during his tenue:

January 23, 1971 #1 UCLA** 89-82 19[11]
January 19, 1974 #1 UCLA** 71-70 88
March 5, 1977 #1 San Francisco 93-82 29
February 26, 1978 #1 Marquette 65-59
February 27, 1980 #1 DePaul 76-74 (2OT) 26[12]
December 27, 1980 #1 Kentucky*** 67-61 7[13]
February 22, 1981 #1 Virginia 57-56 28[14]
February 1, 1987 #1 North Carolina 60-58 16[15]

Here is Digger's record:

1971-91 Digger Phelps 20 393–197 .666

Mike Brey's record in the Big East is even better:

2000–present Mike Brey 13 285-142 .667

Mike Brey was named national coach of the year:

2011 (AP, Henry Iba Award, CBS Sports.com, Sports Illustrated), 2012 (Jim Phelan Coach of the Year Award)

And Big East coach of the year:

2007, 2008, 2011

NCAA Tournament appearances under Mike Brey:

2001, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013

Mike Brey ranks as the fifth all-time winningest coach in BIG EAST history with 133 regular-season and tournament victories.

I continue to read and hear that ND "adds nothing" to any conference regarding basketball. I dispute that assertion.

Yeah, but that .666 win% won't go over well in the "Bible Belt"... 05-stirthepot

UL is at .661, which our 3 titles make up for that in the fanbase eyes

WKU is the closest to .666 at .665....

Are you looking at a different list, or just rushing through the list05-stirthepot
