Cuse at Fort Drum Again
Hopefully it is paying dividends like it did last year.

It would be awesome if UL trained part of camp at Ft. Knox. Then each Post puts together an All-Star team of soldiers and they play a game of Football before the college game.

Here is a touching letter from a Mom yesterday about Cuse players working with his son's Pop Warner Team

Well UL has gone to Our base , Ft. Knox. Charlie had them at basic a few years ago. Great interaction. When Army used to play here UL gave like 500 tickets to the Troops. Great time.

Fort Hood is in Killeen, Texas. I assume you mean Fort Knox or Fort Campbell? In either case, it is a cool idea and something I wish the university would do for both football and basketball.

Arghh, "Brain Fart", I meant Fort Knox...as E-Town is just south of Louisville. As a side note it could be a great way to spice up the rivalry. Infantry vs Armor.

I'd agree but unfortunately all of the tanks, Humvees, Bradleys and other vehicles were moved to Fort Benning two years ago. The only armor left is in the Patton Museum or scattered around the post as monuments. Fort Knox's only remaining combat brigade is the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division; however, they've been marked for inactivation by 2017. Once they go, the only presence left will be the Army’s recruiting and human resource commands.

Sorry to hear that...I always thought Ft Knox was a great location. Is Ft Knox going to remain open?

Yes. While there won't be any combat brigades stationed there, the fort will remain the site of the United States Bullion Depository, Army Human Resource Command, and the Army Recruiting Command. Basically, it is going to transition from a tip-of-the-spear military facility to a home base for military office and support workers.

Sad to see given the Fort's history but that's life I suppose.

I was born and raised in Louisville. I was stationed at Ft. Knox for 4 great years. It is a shame that it has gotten stripped down a bit. It is also home to Cadet Command. That function will be growing as the Infantry BDE departs. So there is hope there at least. Cadet CMD should expand greatly. I hope the best for Knox. That's where I'd like my last assignment to be so I can retire from there.

RE: Cuse at Fort Drum Again
I was up at Ft. Drum prior to deploying to Afghan. I was conducting an inspection of one of my BN Ministry Teams up there. Can't say I'd ever want to be stationed there. WAY TOO cold. I would like to go see that castle on the great lake that is near there though.

It would be cool to have some kind of military tie in to the Cuse vs. UofL game.

Good idea about a tie-in. Both states are historically supportive of the military.

Our guys could bus a couple hundred Fort Drum troops to Louisville and Louisville could host a huge contingent at Papa Johns and vice versa when the Cards come to the Dome. Both teams would have military represented in their respective fan seats at both houses.

Even better is that this can be done with a 3 day pass and these guys don't use up their leave.

We have always supported the Military in Louisville and cherish the families that have served Our great Country.
Btw Boldt Castle is really neat but will never be finished as it serves a reminder of a loving couples dream. There is another completed castle in the area but I've not been to it .

That one is Singer Castle. I recommend taking that trip next visit.
You can take an Uncle Sam Tour boat out of Alexandria Bay
