It is the same answer to the question of "What is the acceptable cut off age for stupid questions?"

I think there may not be one....

That's pretty sad and a good indicator of our downfall.

what about board games? would it be equally sad if a 37 year old enjoyed playing candy land, monopoly or even Uno? (i know it isn't a board game)

There are plenty of "grown up" board games and it is a pretty major hobby. I play board games multiple times a week.

Sure, if they are playing them with their kids. A 37 year old gamer who spends hours on end being addicted to video games is another issue. Especially when they have kids.

You're talking about two totally different things if you're talking about somebody who is addicted to video games and can't get off the couch that's completely different from somebody who happens to be older and just likes playing video games

I'm not trying to bash anyone. It's just my opinion. It's kinda like the 40 year old guy that watches cartoons or makes a bunch of south park references. Or the 40 year old guy would would vote for some comedy central comedian if he ran for office. I see that as bad decision making.

I enjoy playing Halo 1 from time to time. Maybe once every six months. If it's an occasional thing, I don't see a problem with it.

You still have 60+ year olds making the games. I guess that they can still play them.

I know of at least 3 senior citizens that play Words with Friends and Candy Crush.

To me that's like asking "What is the socially acceptable cut off age for watching movies/tv/or any other form of entertainment."

Chicks love guys in their late 30s who have virtual accomplishments in a virtual world. It goes back to that animal instinct and the machismo.

What is wrong with watching cartoons? Have you seen what passes for good live tv these days?

+1

Compared to Duck Dynasty, the Bachelor, Honey Boo Boo, dancing with the stars, American Idol, etc. i'll take cartoons. There is more "reality" in Family Guy than all of the above.

I stopped watching animated entertainment before I was a teenager. I like watching Frasier reruns. Best sitcom ever made.

Ever? Let's not jump the shark here....I can think of a least 10 that were better without even trying.

RE: What is the socially acceptable cut off age for video games?
You're not gonna please everyone.

I'm 36, married, and have a daughter. I like playing video games. I have a friend who's 37, and he likes playing video games. Another friend is married with a son in elementary school, and he's a thirty-something year old gamer. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with adults playing video games as a stress relief; not everything in someone's life has to be so damn serious all the time.

Of course, you could say I'm biased, and you're probably right. So be it.
