While the news isn't unexpected, it isn't exactly good either.
If the SEC places 3 teams in the New Year's Six Bowls, then the AdvoCare V100 and BBVA Compass Bowls would be getting the #11 and #12 picks out of the conference. How many times is the SEC going to have that many bowl eligible teams? Is the ACC ever going to get a SEC opponent in the AdvoCare V100 or are we going to always play the back-up tie-in?

RE: Sec bowl update
SEC renews tie-in with Birmingham bowl
Birmingham's bowl will have the first selection of available teams following the pool of six bowls. The Advocare V100 Bowl in Shreveport, La., will have the next pick of available SEC teams to play the ACC.

RE: Sec bowl update
Looks like the ole ACC vs Big East Bowls (AAC) are the lower tiers if teams are available.
Top Tier Orange, Champs & Capital One when B10 in Orange
Mid Tier Belk, Gator/Music, Pinstripe, Sun
G5 Tier 7-10
Detroit vs B10 probably MAC as backup.
Militrary vs AAC
Independence vs SEC (Very likely AAC/CUSA/SB)
BOBB vs AAC 2014 & 2016 (Backup other years, highly unlikely to ever backup)
Birmingham Backup vs AAC (Very Likely no SEC Team Available.)
