First you leave the SEC, second you don't use New Orleans to your advantage and now you don't want to renew the series with LSU
Leaving the SEC wasn't a decision of the "fans". Failing to properly capitalize on a favorable location is also not something that the "fans" are responsible for.

Finally, LSU is not proposing an annual home-and-home series. I admit that Tulane would gain some benefit from playing LSU on a sporadic basis, but I'd rather the program work harder and earn those benefits some other way.

Kind of smart. Stadium opener is automatic sellout no matter who you play...Ga Tech means the second game in the new stadium should sell out as well.

Why didn't we do that?

I remember UCF had Texas in the first game at Bright House, and lost a heartbreaker. Who was the second game against? A C-USA opponent as I recall.

Who would you prefer? USM or LA Tech?
Yes. And if not them, then Rice or SMU. And if not them, Memphis or Houston. ULL or ULM. McNeese or Grambling. And if not them... Anyone but Louisiana State.

Sounds like a college football rivalry to me!

ESPN brokered the deal to televise the inaugural game at BHNS against Texas. It was originally a 2-for-1 deal, and technically still is I suppose. Though the 2nd game @ Texas was pushed out to 2017. I've often wondered who UCF would have managed to schedule on it's own.

Most likely it wouldn't have been the 2005 National Champions (TEXAS).

UCF getting a national tv game vs the 2005 National Champs in their first ever on-campus stadium game was a coup. The fact that it was a very good, entertaining game (Texas won by 3) was just an added bonus.

For many of us who had to attend games at the Citrus Dump for decades...where the thought of UCF ever playing in their own on-campus stadium was just a far away dream....Opening Day was a magical day for those alums who were diehard fans.

First TD ever scored at UCF's BHNS

You mean the same team that beat 3 and 9 Auburn 12 to 10 or FSC Towson at home 38 to 22? Obviously LSU is a superior team, no doubt but it's not as if they blow teams away. They win with defense. Last year they won 3 games on the road by a total of 14 points while losing a fourth game. They're not exactly a great team on the road.

To paraphrase Tommy Prothro, "LSU at the Superdome is as much a road game as Notre Dame at the Vatican"!
