I started this thread becuase Mr. Peanut keeps calling me a "cracker"...you gonna call him out Redwingtom? BTW: He is on the "left".

Sorry, haven't seen the posts in question so I'll do some looking.

But serious question for you: Is the term Cracker equal to the term N*****? Yes or No.

No. not even close. It is a racial slur though. I just see more and more people throwing in around since the Trayvon Martin trial. Charles Rangel and that girl who was on the phone with Trayvon when he died.

BTW - I did a search of Peanut's posts and the word "cracker". He has never personally called you a cracker that I could find. He has used the word quite a bit, but so have a few others and most of them were on the right.

And I agree, the word should not be used in such a context...but it's not even close to the N-word. If someone called me that I wouldn't bat an eye and would most likely just laugh.

So. Did you REALLY care, or were you just pointing out that there is something of a double standard in play?

And really, "cracker" and the "N" word aren't equivalent. I just wish that Black people held themselves to the same standard concerning that word.

It's just a f'n word..

Words don't hurt people.. People with little man syndrom who reach for guns or try to punch people in the face over a word is what hurts.

Yep. Noticed the same.

I recall some of my favorite threads included Owl 69 and Max Power, right around the 2012 election. Both on opposite sides of each other, economically, but I learned quite a bit from both of them.

Max Power was awesome! He use to slay the conservatives on this board. It was a beautiful thing to see.

I wouldn't say he "slayed" anyone. Many of those charts and graphs were debunked as spin.

But I respected him for his well thought-out posts and effort to engage. He put a lot of detailed work into his posts.

Maxie was an ill informed ass hat... only Firmbizzle would thnk he "slayed" anyone...

Regularly slap the sh1t out of you.

I can respect that. You have thick skin, and more people should be just like that but when the president stands up and says he knows how it feels to be racially profiled because he's experienced being followed around department stores, tighter grasped purses, and the sound of doors locking, he creates a whole new reason to stir the pot.

Here's an idea. When a white, black, or mexican walks into a store with sagging pants and an XXL t-shirt on a medium frame, you look suspicious. People lock their doors, people keep an eye on you, people grasp their purse tighter. It's human nature, and it has NOTHING to do with being black, but everything to do with how you're dressed. I wouldn't think twice about a guy in a Polo shirt and nice jeans, but if you came into a store I was working at with the crotch of your pants near your knees, walking with a limp, and an oversized shirt on, you're damn right I'm gonna make sure you don't take anything because you LOOK suspicious. And whites who think they're black are twice as bad as a thug.

It's a perception, they do it to themselves and then get mad when they get followed for the way they dress. Wear some sh*t that fits you. Problem solved.

I care as much as blacks care about the N word. Who decides the equivalency of the two words? Cracker refers to the crack of the whip from slave owners in the old south. I take that as a huge insult.

And young blacks, whites and hispanics didn't help the situation by using the N word on themselves. Even if they think they changed the context.

So the point is that it's all fine and dandy to call someone a cracker, yet SOOOOO horribly offensive to call someone a niqqer.

I've noticed something since the Zimmerman trial. Those who are trying to hang on to the past see people pointing out the double standard and don't like it. It seems that there is an attempt to downplay the significance of the word "cracker." It seems like those who have benefited from playing the race game don't want it to go away. I don't see how anyone thinking this word is OK can claim they are fighting racism.

And young blacks, whites and hispanics didn't help the situation by using the N word on themselves. Even if they think they changed the context.

Then you are obviously one of those easily insulted people................too bad.

They are both racist words Robert. Is it your white guilt that won't allow you to acknowledge this?

It's just his defeat and failure to admit to it. That's why his excuse is to say that he's so fed up with the right wing on the board that he just trolls now...

Liberals hate everything that they can't benefit from. If THEY want to use the double standard to their benefit, it's ok, but when someone uses it in such a context that liberals can't benefit, it's wrong and we're just bigots and racists...

You haven't even been here a month so please don't try to act you know the history, okay?

Hey, fruit, those were his own damn words... Got it?

Fruit? What the **** is wrong with you? Are you 12 or something? Can you see now why Robert feels it's pointless debating you and your ilk? Does it even register?

And I know Robert's words. And that in no way changes that you don't have knowledge one as to why he is at this point currently. Certainly not to erroneously conclude that you somehow "won" something.

12 year olds call people fruits in your area? Anyways, so I'm pointlessly debating for saying he's trolling because he said he likes to troll? And for naming the reason that he said he likes to do it? And you assume you think that I've somehow concluded that I've won something?

And I'M the one who is debating pointlessly??? 01-wingedeagle
