If ESPN refuses to pay us, and the P5 doesn't want us, then we need to cheat as a group. Pay players and have lavish big city parties. The benefit of our schools being in large cities is that it is easier to hide Escalades, luxury condos, yacht trips, ect. All 11 schools(Navy probably won't be on board) should cheat as a group. They can't banned the entire conference. The bowls wouldn't allow it.

Great idea, as Eddie Guerrero said "Cheat to win."

Go for it!! 03-2thumbsup

Just don't forget the strippers and blow.03-shhhh

Maybe SMU can take the lead in organizing this, they seemed to have a rather successful experience with this sort of activity.03-idea

No drugs but yes lots of strippers, and female student academic guides.

SMU got caught multiple times. Take the lesson from Auburn: pay in cash, stonewall the NCAA (remember that nobody outside of the university HAS to talk), pay in cash, no paper trail, and most importantly - pay in cash.

Rule #1, don't give players cash in envelopes with your school's or governor's letterhead

Yup, NCAA has no subpoena power either.

Lulz... absolutely the worst part of that whole scandal. How on earth can you be that dumb (or arrogant) about it.

RE: I say if the big boys keep us out, we cheat.
NBPirate, the trouble is/was EVERYONE else was "that dumb (or arrogant) about it," but only the smaller schools ever get nailed for it. Witness Eric Dickerson visiting A&M's campus and returning in a brand-new, gold Trans-Am that everyone apparently jokingly called the "Trans A&M." Likewise Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, and every other BIG program out there did crap like this. Florida State and UNC cheated academically so that their players were eligible... Want to try and tell me that 'Bama hasn't? Heck, you ever tried to listen to some of these kids SPEAK coherently, much less write? It's painful.

The difference is, if ECU gets caught doing it, the full weight of the NCAA, your state's legislature and state board of Higher Ed., and the public will come raining down on you. SMU will get the "Death Penalty." If half of the Penn State scandal had happened at Tulsa, mobs would have burned the stadium and had candlelight vigils for "the victims" and Tulsa would never play a down of football again.

The rules just are DIFFERENT for the "BIG" programs. The old saw "USC broke this rule, so the NCAA beat the hell out of Podunk State" is true and we all know it. Of course Penn State didn't get the "death penalty"... in fact their punishment will probably be suspended in the next year. Of course Miami did not get penalized for the Jerry Shapiro thing. Of course UNC was able to skate on the academic fraud with their reputation in tact.

But nobody...and I mean NOBODY...in this conference do it, otherwise everyone in the conference will be painted with the broad brush and be put out of business.

LOL04-cheers

My advice is, if we do this, then we need to cheat so bad that the SEC looks at us and says "Damn...".

Any person who believes there are a lot of major schools in D-1, in football or basketball, that don't cheat is out of his/her mind. We're talking NCAA rules here, not criminal activity, and it involves billions of dollars. Duh.

Oh i left out one other rule: once you start payments to a player, you CANNOT stop them. That's what ultimately brought down SMU. They stopped paying a player and he went and squealed.

I agree we should definitely be cheating. Got UL into the ACC. UCF tried to cheat but just wasn't very good at it. I really wish we'd be able to cheat like some of those SEC schools. I contend that if UCF knew how to cheat properly, we'd already be in a P5 conference.

Exactly. Recruits aren't tweeting pics of themselves holding piles of cash because they won the lottery.
