Uh-oh.

Pretty sure I got blasted last week for saying he was the next Stan Simpson.

The Stan Simpson comparison is stupid.

One guy has logged over 2000 minutes and was a starter at the D1 level in the A-10 conference.

The other was Juco and pine rider at 2 different schools.

Dumb

He played on a mediocre mid major team. Not exactly POY caliber. Your assessment is stupid.

Yep. There's two problems about Smith's assessment of Pellom. 1) Basing his opinion of his play in the Bluff City. 2) Agreeing with Chrissy.

Interestingly, Smith said that Iverson looked as tall as Woodson. Maybe even taller.

Thinks he's a legit and true 6-9 if not more.

Maybe. I think he's just a different kind of writer.

Parrish and Wolken are both guys who love sports along with all its melodramatic nonsense. They like to write about coaches on the hot seat or what Johnny Manziel got thrown at him at a frat party. So because that's what they like, they shine in smear pieces. They can sometimes underwhelm when it comes to pieces that they can't write in a sarcastic tone (Wolken much more so).

Jason seems more like a guy who just loves the game and the success stories that surround it, so in turn, he's not as enthusiastic to bring down the players and coaches with his writing. The players trust him and they are open with him. I don't think the same could be said about a lot of our other beat writers. And personally, I prefer my team's beat writer to respect the players and coaches so in turn, they give him the personal feel insider information should have. I'll get my smear pieces from the national guys.

I really think Parrish would like to cover something else. He's just good at covering hoops and sticks with it.

I think Pellom will contribute some but from what I've read from some of you guys over the last couple of months he's going to let you down big time from some of the hype he's been labeled with.

I also believe we'll see iverson at the 4 a lot too unless Dom and Pellom do a good enough job...Dom is skilled but will he get that weight off and keep it off.

I honestly thought Pellom just contributing and being a vocal senior leader WAS the hype.

I didn't think anyone was expecting him to be much more.

Jason Smith on Vernon today (7/31)
No matter the system, everyone knows that it's easier to remove fat weight than to add muscle mass.

Under optimal conditions, a person might gain 10-20lbs of lean mass in a year. Over 25 probably means you are not done growing or you're "supplementing"

Add to that everyone's body has its own natural limits based on construction, natural hormone levels, and etc.

But of course wrt the question it's not like Frank doesn't use weight training. He just doesn't use isolated weights either free or machine.

His methods end up with a result like what you call "farm strong" - and that certainly involves muscle mass. Endurance is developed at the same time but not at the expense of strength.

RE: Jason Smith on Vernon today (7/31)
Problem with a lot of heavy people or someone who wants that 6 pack is that they don't control their diet to the T for long periods of time and that defeats the purpose of putting in a lot of (work)exercise as you won't see hardly any weight loss...starving yourself is idiotic but that's another topic.
