RE: The AAC Wants Into "Division 4"? Get Ready to Pay Up--CBS/Jeremy Fowler
I dont think its clear cut yet. There are those in the P5 that want just those five in a new division and there are others that just want separation of voting rights. If they want a P5 division it could happen and in that case the AAC and the MWC are going to have to schmooze all they can to force their way in. The AAC is in a better position than the MWC and make a better case for inclusion. It would not surprise me in the least if it came down to it, that BSU and three others from the MWC cut bait and join the AAC to give them the best chance for inclusion with the new division.

That being said I believe both the AAC and MWC deserve to and will be included. The AAC bc of its teams and the MWC bc of the areas they represent. The entire country deserves to be represented at the highest level. Including teams from Nevada, New Mexico, Hawaii and Wyoming matter IMO. The country is growing south and west and only has the PAC12 in a P5 division.

Great analysis. I really agree that the MWC is important for geographical representation. I feel that the AAC has some great schools in great markets that have had success across the board for a long time.

It's pretty clear that the P5 do not want to be in the same division with us or the MWC. All signs indicate that the P5 are happy consorting among nobody but themselves.

Well, if the P5 does that, the G5 should make an arrangement to NEVER play P5 schools. If they want to play only each other, that is fine by me.

At that point, 50% of the P5 go from bowl-eligible to perpetual losers.
You'd never see Duke make a bowl game ever again. Those bottom-level BCS programs would completely flame out, after they get beaten up on for years with nothing to show for it but a fat TV contract.

Fan support would dwindle. You'd have the same 10-15 schools battling it out for the championship, but you would create amongst the P5 a new "loser class" that has no chance to ever make noise.

These schools should not support a P5 Division, unless they wish to be relegated to complete obscurity:

Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern, Duke, Wake, Syracuse, BC, Kansas, Iowa St, Colorado, Wash St, Kentucky, Vandy.

I'd also historically say Baylor, Pitt, Rutgers, Oregon St, Arizona as well.
