Yeah I remember that, and I'm real concerned they are just going to buy out of the 1 home game in that series. That would be pretty typical, and if it happens I hope we are just done playing South Carolina.
It was a stupid deal (sans the Charlotte revenue) in the first place. One of a few things I disagreed with TH on completely.
Disagree, they'll already agreed and added more dates out to 2022 with. Great recruiting tool just playing. They are talking about just moving the 2014 game to Dowdy-Ficklen and making a straight up home and home. They'll add the 2022 game at the end to even the current deal out on home game, but they added at least to more games to the deal already. We move last year's game to the second game of they and they paid us and App State for the trouble. To play UNC in 2015 they willing to move 2014 to DFS and add 3 games on the back end 2 at DFS one there to even it out and pay us nearly a million for the trouble. No it been a good series for us. Recruiting in South Carolina has improved for us and we've already earn over million dollars in the series so far.

South Carolina hasn't bought out a game from us ever. They came to Greenville and played well before UNC or State would, 2001 and 1999, and only after pressure from the state to do so, I have no issue with South Carolina.

RE: How should ECU schedule going forward?
I have to agree with other Pirates about the Gamecocks; like VPI, they have been good partners and we will hopefully continue to play them for a long while to come. We'll probably continue playing the Mountaineers (WVU) as well, at least occasionally.
I'm willing to bet that we'll see a similar relationship continue to build with UNC.
With that ***** Debbie Yow running things in Raleigh, I would not be surprised if we will stop playing them after 2016. Hopefully, we'll win these next two games.
I would like for us to play games in Charlotte, at ODU and at Appy. It never hurts to build goodwill and we should remember that we've been there before....
They just need to get their stadiums to at least 35K to handle the folks we would bring. I'm sure that ODU is going to do this sooner rather than later; I can not say the same for App State (where will they be able to expand it?) and Charlotte (will the support be there?).
I have a hunch that we'll continue playing Marshall and USM for many years, at least on a rotating basis. Although I "like" USM better, Marshall does travel much, much better simply because the are so much closer to our campus.
I would love to play UVA but I'm not sure that they feel the same way. Clemson is a not an option being that they will not come to Greenville.

WV’s AD lobbied for an ECU invite to the B12. ECU should build on that by scheduling B12 schools. I think the B12 will eventually expand, so ECU should allow the conference to experience its good fan base and atmosphere. ECU is making the right moves when it comes to upgrading its facilities. However, the scheduling needs B12 upgrading. Although ECU may experience more losses, it could prove very beneficial for it if future B12 expansion occurs—Texas is a necessity for ECU’s ooc schedule because it has the most influence on the B12. This is the only P5 conference that ECU may have a chance at eventually getting an invite to, so it should play more schools in that conference.

RE: How should ECU schedule going forward?
The 2014 USCe game isn't getting moved from Charlotte to Greenville....there is a deal in place to play in Charlotte and those folks aren't letting them out of it. USCe plays UNC in 2015 in Charlotte, which is why they don't want to come to Greenville in 2015.
At this point there are a lot of TBA, but the positive is that deals are in place with teams you want them with. Moving games benefits ECU because it keeps the relationships going and also provides leverage to extend series. The idea has been that we will do you a favor now, and you will keep scheduling us because we're good partners.

I would just add UVA, UGA, Clemson, and UT to that list. Play home games in Charlotte as much as possibility.

I don't know Under, ECU played a Big East heavy schedule thinking it would garner some sort of sort for inclusion to no avail. Keep scheduling WV but as for the rest (I'd even give them a 2 for 1), meh.

RE: How should ECU schedule going forward?
We need to downgrade our OOC a bit not upgrade it with Clemson (never happening unless we move to ACC) or the B12 (minus WVU)
