This seems to be what we wanted a year ago. The American being the "Best of the rest" conference.

The option is for UMass OR Buffalo... so neither are a shoe in.

Or we could nix both of them

Move Navy to the North, and pick up another team from the south.

Or Navy/North, Memphis to the South, and add from the midwest.

Or Navy/Memphis move, and BYU to the Midwest, to add the best from the west.

There is still enough fluid to find the best team in the East/South/Midwest/West, if one thinks UMass/UB isn't that team.

First off lots of great work on this, I have to give credit where it’s due.

I’m not really good at getting down to the granular level (which teams which conference and who’s playing who in what format) but I am all for the idea.

I just hope that when this plays out that a specific set of criteria are put forth and then at that time each university is free to decide whether they want to make the investment to move up to D4 or not. The criteria should include things like a minimum athletic budget, minimum number of sponsored sports, minimum standards for facilities and stadium size, the stipend ect. From there universities from any conference can decide based on potential ROI if the investment is worth it or not. I just don’t want to see the NCAA and or the P5 commissioners picking the winners and losers.

But how do you really feel?

But seriously, this is based on the assumption that there WILL be a D4. I have not stated that this is fact, or even possible. Just that, for the sake of this thought exercise, who would be for and against it. Please vote accordingly.

I think your vision is WONDERFUL, but also completely UNREALISTIC, as there is no way that the P5 is going to split their huge playoff revenue with TWO, much less TWENTY schools from the G5, AMERICAN or otherwise.

You've got more patience than I do to spend the time it took to plug all of that in. The north team named "New York", is that Buffalo?

New York IS buffalo.

They are re-marketing this year to be New York's team. Ergo I call them New York instead of Buffalo.

The equivalent of UCF instead of C. Florida, and the like.

03-lmfao Yeah, good luck with that. 03-lmfao

I really enjoyed going up there when we played them in 2010. They have a nice campus and the stadium is actually kinda nice. But if you have to tarp-off the entire endzone seats in a 30K seat stadium because they rarely get used, you know you've got issues. "New York's team" indeed. So my answer to this was not just "no" but *F* NO!

The tarps are off this season and White is pushing to bring in about 20K a game. I know its a humble start but it's something.

The new AD has vision and seems to be pulling it off.

Phase one of his improvements, due next season, is the east club

http://www.ubbullrun.com/2013/4/1/407531...ts-phase-1

Ill also add those bleechers are the tiny ones in the north endzone the MAC made us add to get the stadium to 30K. The field house plans actually rip those out..

I like this hypothetical but could see MW and AAC being forced with the stipulation of going to 18 football playing members (2 divisions of 9) each. With many of them demanded by the sports networks to be in bigger DMAs with some allowed for rivalry and tradition purposes.

AAC adds: UMASS, Southern Miss, ODU (Norfolk), Charlotte, Georgia St (Atlanta), Army (football-only)

MW adds: BYU, UTEP, UTSA, Rice, < 2 of these 3 >: Latech, Texas St, and/or UNT (I prefer LaTech and Texas St)

just sexy doesn't cut it. AAU( remember these presidents meet with each other. how would you like to see the flagship of New York and explain why they are excluded) plus they will have option to step up investment. if they do or don't its up to them. i'm thinking UMASS and NEW York.

I wonder if, instead of whole conferences like the AAC, MWC, etc getting added if the current P5 members will just add who they want from said conferences...ie, Boise, UH, SMU, BYU to the b12, UCONN, UC, USF to the ACC, etc.

I can see the 14 team conferences forcing the pac12 and big12 to move to 14 teams. That is 2 more to the pac and 4 more to the big 12 for fairness... fewer conference members increases the odds of a team making the playoffs in an auto bid per conference situation. What teams would be added to those 2 conferences? If Dodds died/retired I could see Houston to the big 12.

Can't see any of the military academies getting involved in a deal where the athletes are paid. They'd either stay at the lower level or move down to D-3.

Please never include UMASS or Buffalo again.

Those schools will NEVER EVER be in this conference.
