RE: Aresco last August on several "Big East" issues ...
We were invited for potential, recruiting and the destination city we are in, all the candidates were so flawed and TU offers what some have said "mysterious potential", this has been discussed so many times. I want to be clear, I can't thank Aresco enough with that said I still don't understand how we were invited without the commish/presidents/ADs commitment to the league in its entirety. It's despicable that the C7 voted for us and then ADs used us as an excuse PUBLICLY, absolutely despicable! Something should have been said or done about that, all that media bashing probably didn't help the negotiations but maybe taking the high road helped to get the most out the C7 split.
Again, it is what it is, nothing is changing and firing the guy right now would be pointless and perhaps not justifiable, both side make decent arguments on his efforts to date. We have a real uphill battle but this league certainly has a chance to work out. Can't wait to get this season going.

Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia did the same thing to Villanova.

Seriously, that was seemingly the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of the split, yet both sides blame the other for their invite. To me that just about sums up what Aresco is dealing with it.
To me, it sums up Aresco's failure as a leader. A commissioner's job is to LEAD the Presidents, especially when there is some kind of split. He's supposed to either broker a compromise or else throw his weight behind one side or the other if he is convinced one side is right.
As far as we can tell, the ship was rudderless when Tulane was invited. No evidence that Aresco exercised any leadership at all, and this at a time when he had just been hired, when typically a commissioner's powers are at their height. Amazing.
If inviting Tulane was a disaster, why do the presidents and ADs get a free pass on that?
To be clear, I am NOT saying inviting Tulane was a disaster. Quite the opposite, I'm glad they are now with us in the AAC. As a USF fan, I enjoyed us competing against Tulane back in the 90s in the Metro conference when I was a student.
My point was that the decision to invite Tulane - whether it proves to be good or bad - was seemingly made under willy-nilly conditions, with no leadership by Aresco.
Good grief man......you quote that one line from my comment and even ignore this one....."Frankly and to be fair, it's yet to be seen if inviting the Green Wave was a mistake. If I was a Tulane fan, I'd get tired of reading this board and everyone's complaints about my university's program. All they did was accept a legitimate invitation."
That's pretty unfair/deceptive on your part.
What the hell was deceptive? I got the idea from your reply that you thought *I* thought that inviting Tulane was a disaster, and I was just clarifying that I didn't think that. Wasn't commenting on what YOU think about the Tulane invite at all. Good grief!

I'm a patient, fair, and understanding guy, but you're a piece of work today between this and the ECU misrepresentation you've manufactured.
You have a good evening.
