SJ...you have your opinion of Southern Miss. That is fine. I just know that I get a sick feeling every time I think about not being in the same conference with them. I wish they were coming with. I respect them as much or more than anyone we play coming up (in or out of conference).

1. The early C-USA league (96-'04) was a much tougher league and had BETTER teams than after '04......in other words...winning C-USA before '04 means a HELLUVA lot more than winning C-USA after '04. Hell, seems like every year we had multiple teams finish in the top 20...not to mention we (C-USA) were consistently beating OTHER ranked teams.

2. People say "hey USM you've won so much...why can't you grow your fan-base?". It's because we are surrounded by LSU, Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tenn, Auburn, and Florida State......NOT Duke, Wake Forest, UNC, Nc State (ZERO national championships between those schools). Since the early 90's LSU/Ala/MSU/OM/Tenn/Auburn/FSU have accounted for FIFTEEN APPEARANCES IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!).........Duke, Wake Forest, UNC, Nc State, USC, Clemson have accounted for ZERO appearances in the national championships! I repeat, ZERO APPEARANCES!!! NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY ECU has grown their fan-base....and USM HASN'T.

3. For some odd reason....people are shocked that a brand new fb program like UTSA can outdraw a school with so much more history...it's called having 3 million people (San Antonio)....not 145,000 people (Hattiesburg).

You need to stand corrected on one thing sir. Clemson did win the National Championship in 1981 under Coach Danny Ford with an undefeated record of 12-0.

Good job Eagles!

CUSA 2.0 was essentially a different conference with so many different teams, divisons, and a championship game. Some of those early championships USM won only had 6 or 7 teams in the conference. CUSA 2.0 is the version you were in with ECU and USM.

Also USM has always been my 2nd favorite school and I agree that USM has it harder than ECU to draw fans because SEC. The ACC has never been the power that the SEC has been. Also ECU has beaten past National Champs & beaten a few Top 10 ranked school when we played them. One thing I really like about USM is, like ECU, they play anybody anywhere. They never back down.

The 8 years of CUSA 2.0 Marshall was part of

ECU
46-20 / 70%

USM
37-29 / 56%

We still own ECU troll boy.

Why would you call him a troll when he didn't start the smack. You may not like us but at least be real!

I'm sorry, do we know each other? Never seen you post before, but if you've paid attention, I have no qualms with ECU at all. When I've visited ECU, I was quite impressed with everything.

SJ is a troll. Plain and simple. He usually starts the smack. So please go back and re-educate yourself.
