Curious as to what some of the legal people on the board think about this. It looks as if he is not being punished on the merits of the case but rather on the ego needs of the judge. This looks arbitrary and capricious to me.

I have to agree.

That's what judges do... It's called "contempt of court" for a reason... You don't screw around in there or you may end up paying for it...

His antics on the field were annoying and he never lived up to his potential on the field, but I actually feel sorry for the guy. Though domestic violence is never excusable, his married an extremely abusive woman who can be seen attacking people physically nearly every week on her reality show. A man should never hit a woman and I'm glad he was punished for that, but this wasn't someone getting smacked for burning dinner. As for this recent incident, it's just silly.

Believe it or not, he was actually a good citizen when he lived in Cincinnati during an era when nearly all of our players were thugs who got arrested regularly. While here, he stayed out of legal trouble and never participated in the nightlife yet was a regular fixture at the youth football games and would gladly sign autographs for people while shopping at the local malls. I ran into him at Northgate mall by my house and he was really laid back and friendly. People didn't swarm him either because he simply felt like part of the community.

I have seen guys held in contempt by putting their hat back on as the walk out of the rear of the courtroom after being told to leave it off until out in the hallway and for all kinds of stuff.

If you are going to do anything that in the opinion of the judge lessens the dignity of the court and the proceedings, you may get rung up like Chad did.

This was complete BS. The judge aske CJ if he was happy with his attorney. CJ said yes, smiled and patted the guy on the back. A completely meaningless gesture that we all do everyday. It's hard to tell if it's his back or butt, however, it's not a lockeroom butt slap. The judge got embarassed and lost her composure. I wish there were a way to appeal this, because the judge was wrong in this case.

That idiot. His behavior displayed a lack of respect for her courtroom. He need to save that behavior for the basketball court or football field. She was within her legal right.

I would never do that at work or in a formal setting as a courtroom. It's disrespectful. I'm trying to teach my 9 year old son that he must behave respectfully in school, church, dinner and around women. This generation has no respect for anything.

It wasn't the pat on the butt that landed him in jail, it was the utter disrespect he showed in the courtroom.

If the court room was empty, Ocho is at home right now instead of jail. The judge should probably be suspended for being a d-bag.

He was in a court room. Not on a football field, not on a reality tv show and not in a strip club making it rain.

The judge had every right to send him to jail and was not wrong at all.

HE was wrong...plain and simple.
