RE: Tejas Bowl Is Moving Forward
Bahama Bowl...Robinson stadium was expanded to 23K last year....that's an interesting spot.
The reality is that many of the G5 conferences are going to have to play against each other in Bowl games and that Bowls are going to be created at the lower level to accommodate the number of teams coming in.
We know that Charlotte, ODU, Georgia State, UTSA, Texas State, South Alabama, App State, & Georgia Southern are all being added to FBS. We also know that the P5 expanded by net 7 (9 added and 2 lost)....so they will get some Bowl spots they didn't have.
The higher level programs are mostly in the American and MWC and there is not an easy geography to play each other in a Bowl game. The American needs Bowl games in Florida and Texas as well as the Mid Atlantic...to go along with the hopeful Access Bowl spot every year. The Bahamas would be appealing at a lower level...you can take a cruise to the game...the commish needs to make sure we have as many game options as possible and get these games on TV and not lose us money. But your not likely going to see many P5 opponents in Bowl games. What I'm more concerned about is winning the actual bowl games rather than always worrying about who we play. As TH has said, we can schedule our own Bowl game during the season against the P5.

McMurphy is painting a pretty bleak bowl future. The P5 are creating an effective split whether we like it or not. It looks like OOC will be the only place we will ever meet P5 teams. The post season is largely about to become a massive non-event for all but one G5 school if we dont do something creative.

Because your TV contract says otherwise.

Hmm... I wonder if that might have been due to the fact the networks had no earthly idea who was going to be in the conference and for how long? Wait until that Sun-USA contract comes in next time. Don't think the networks are paying for UTSA Road Runners vs. the mighty FIU Panthers

This appears to be a ridiculous rumor with no source. I believe the C-USA #1 will play in the heart of Dallas bowl against either the Big12 or Big 10 on a rotating basis through 2019. A new bowl against the AAC could be in the cards, but I doubt it is either conferences first option.

How good do you think Memphis will be? We beat Rice last season, you know.
