I'd prefer the offices move to Philly, Baltimore, Cinci. My next tier: Nashville, Orlando, Alexandria, VA or Oxon Hill, MD.

Oxon Hill? Do you hold a grudge against the league front office staff? Terrible place to work and not that close to DCA either.

Atlanta seems like a central location to me. Great air hub. And reasonable real estate prices for office space and housing, too.

Why does the office have to be centrally located? Who goes to the office? The big meetings are at a resort in somewhere like Ponte Vedra or Destin anyway. Put it near an airport and it'll be fine.

So you don't think the Atlanta airport works well for the commish and the staff? And the central location is for them, not the universities.

You must not spend a lot of time there. Nothing is walkable and its a hellish commute from everywhere. National Harbor is only a viable place because of the Gaylord. Locals do not go there.

If this conference wants to project a national profile, the offices need to be in the southeast or Dallas. CT or Philly screams Big East. The football programs need to be perceived as based in football crazy SE. The northeast is pro football territory. A SE perception is also needed to prop up hoops programs. The major hoops programs (UConn, Temple, Cincy) are self sustaining by themselves.

Have mentioned this before...set up offices near the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall in downtown Philly. Temple isn't going anywhere...and fits the American name.

I agree. Philadelphia would be an excellent location for the AAC office. However, if a central location is critical, Atlanta is as central as you can get with a great airport.

A lot of things have been accomplished, but there are 3 that really matter to the league. The C7 split, the TV deal, and the bowl lineups. The rest really don't matter that much. The financial split with the C7 I will give him credit for that ended up probably as good as it could have. The TV deal on the other hand is worse financially than anyone could have imagined, and we'll have to see how mid week heavy this thing ends up being for football. So far the bowl situation is going about as horribly as the TV deal, and if the Liberty is not kept it will actually end up worse. So on the 3 things that will matter in terms of this league being able to compete with the P5 financially and competitively he's done well in 1, horrible in 1, and undecided but leaning towards horrible on the other. Hopefully the Liberty Bowl can be retained and the Aresco Bowl can get off the ground with something better than a C-USA opponent and the bowl situation will be about as good as possible at this point. That's pretty much the only hope left.

Its not hugely important--but it can be a factor at times. CUSA's Dallas location allowed Banowsly an in for starting a Dallas based charity that went on to buy the old Ticket City Bowl.

If it were me, I'd place my offices in New York as close to ESPN as I could--same building if possible. Sports writers are naturally lazy. The easy stories are much more likley to be reported than the ones that are harder to get. Lots of easy access to off the record comments and inside information. Plus, more casual lunches and chance meetings with ESPN executives can never hurt.

Providence is actually closer than New York to the ESPN headquarters in Bristol.

Overall, though, where your office is located is very overrated unless it's in an area where talented people actively don't want to live in. Birmingham isn't exactly a metropolis like Manhattan, yet the SEC has done quite fine with their offices there.
