I visited one of my favorite sites recently...fbschedules.com and noticed that the American is listed with the P5 conferences in terms of news...there is also an interesting list of non conference schedule strength that many will find interesting...

I'd say our place, right now, is vying with the MWC to be the best of the G5 conferences, in terms of both on the field/court performance and media appeal.

That is because, for one year, at least, the AAC is a "BCS Conference". Haters can't take that away from us (as much as they may like to).

In basketball we have storied programs and yearly national title contenders, in football, we have former national champions, Heisman trophies in our case, an auto-bid this year, and a guarantee that if we deserve it, we will be in the major rotating bowls. In baseball we are a power conference, in olympics we are a power conference. Why are we mid-major? We have one of the best TV deals in the country as far as exposure. The only thing lacking is our tv revenue, but that alone does not relegate us to mid-major.

That's not the worst place to be. It could create some drama. It's where we were going to be if the alliance took place.

I don't think the AAC is mid major. But it isn't a power conf either. Somewhere in between that. You could make legitimate cases either way. But definitely not a true mid major like the sun belt and Mac

If you were a TV character, you'd be Mr. Carlin from the old Bob Newhart Show. He brought pessimism to a new low.

Actually 75% of the Power 5 don't even belong there according to some of your standards. So we basically have about 15-16 teams that could be considered Power programs. The rest of the country is mid major in a mid major conference or Mid Major in a Power conference. Why not just put those 15-16 in a conference and the conference champion is the National Champion?

College sports are flawed. You have the AAC for example that could really have 3 potential National Championship contenders in basketball this season, and we're a joke? The intelligence on this board amuses me every day.

We're a midmajor program in a mid-major league. I know people wanted to move up but we moved up and the goal posts were moved. Sorry we're closer to the other small leagues than we are the P5

Obviously, we are closer to the other G5 than to the P5. That is why we are in the G5.

If you're saying we're closer to the MWC than the ACC, I agree with you.

If you're saying we're closer to the Sunbelt than the ACC , I disagree with you.
