AAC Primed For Next Weeks Meetings--Hartford Courant
Next weeks meetings may answer fewer questions than we expected. For instance--

Rumors have been flying about where the conference will play its championship tournaments. Hartford, the home of the women since 2004, and Mohegan Sun Arena are in play for at least one and perhaps both tournaments, especially if the new Big East or Atlantic Coast Conference wins the right to play its men’s tournament at Madison Square Garden.

A conference source cautioned Friday that those discussions may not necessarily result in a decision for either championship next week. The coaches first need to get together as a group and agree on a proposal which is then passed along to the athletic directors.

“We hope the sites are determined,” the source said. “But there is absolutely no guarantee that it will get through before the meetings end.”

Should be an interesting first ever "spring conf meeting".

Doubt they will come to conclusions for everything on the table...but at least it will help get the conf moving in the right/same direction (for the most part).

In view of all that is before the AAC, I expect this to be one of the most important and productive meetings ever.

Anybody notice this quote? "This new collection of schools will officially begin to be called the AAC. I wish the conference would stop resisting the inevitable and go with "AAC" in the branding. Screw the Appalachian and ACC.

Hey its a good start. Regular conference stuff is being discussed like everyone else. They aren't discussing who is going - who is staying - will we survive until tomorrow.

Conference line up with 12 teams - check.
Conference name - check.
Conference home office - check.
Football championship game when Navy arrives - check.
Initial location for championship game- team with best record / highest ranked if division winners have the same record a tie - check.
TV contracts - check.
Recent articles put $20 million in BB credits and DESERTION FEES in UCONN, CINN, and USF's coffers with the balance to new members and the league office - Windfall dispersion worked out - check.
Who says nothing is getting done.

New business - Locations for men's and women's have been visited - will be discussed and maybe voted on.

Bowl situation to be discussed - Nick Capallari working on this. Good chance the Military Bowl will be an American bowl with it moved to Navy's Stadium and Navy in the conference against an ACC team. Might replace the Pinstripe Bowl if the American cannot hold on to it.

Still have:

Shot at one of the at large play off spots - performance enhanced
Beef O'Brady with CUSA
Birmingham with the SEC

Potentially lost Belk, Champs, and maybe Pinstripe.

Should hold on to the Liberty possibly against a B-12 opponent.

Other bowl possibilities, Sun with Texas teams, New Orleans and Independence in Louisiana with Tulane, Armed Forces with Navy and the Texas teams, Poinsettia and Kraft Hunger with ties to Navy.

American up and running - build on it.

First positive response on this board in months. Fully agree.

Yep, it's what EVERYONE will be calling the conference. Why fight it?

It's going to be a good football and basketball league right away.
