RE: Karl Benson interview from today about realignment
Its mentions having 12 teams by 2015. I think that means they will wait a year. App St and GaSo will join and play for title in 2014, so they can wait and give MSU or JMU the same option in 2015.

Makes sense. JMU and /or MSU can join next spring and and be title and bowl eligible in 2015

Don't think what you are suggesting will be allowed.

Bowl eligible in '16 if they join next spring

Yep. 12 teams for 2015 would imply at this point that the new addition will play their transition year in 2015, eligible for conference title but not bowls....which would still have us at 12 members though.

Which fully makes sense because you can't upgrade too many FCS schools at one time....

Also does it make sense from a tactical perspective to expand in 2015 and reopen the SBC TV deal that year with a championship game? What is the point of going to 12 for 2014 if its not going to net the conference any additional TV dollars?

I truly believe JMU and MSU are the best options.

You wat and gran both and if you lose 1 curent school youre good.If you dont then you look around in 2015/2016 to see who else is the next best option and go to 14.

Realignments and conference-jumping is apparently the trend now and could last a long time until something comes along to stop it. I agree the conference should not jump to add. I merely stated that JMU and MSU would be, IMO, would be the best fit when Benson decides to add on.

That was a good tidbit.

I could definitely see the SBC adding either a bowl game in Boise or New Mexico to its lineup.

That'll excite no one.

I would be thrilled with whichever of Mo. State or JMU joins first and I would love to have both to replace Idaho when they find a new home.

We need a few more bowls. I really hope the talk of a bowl in Little Rock comes to fruition for selfish reasons.

Something north of about the I-20 corridor would make sense. LR would be a prime candidate because there isn't currently a bowl there, and they have a stadium to host one.

This is not about Liberty. I understand that ship has sailed. I do love the realignment talk though. Just keep this in mind for all you JMU backers. JMU has about as much in common with the Sunbelt as Harvard does. They're an northern alumni school and I just can't see their administration lowering themselves to join the SB. Missouri State is a much better option in my opinion. They're going to have to get their attendance up for football. I think they only averaged around 8,000 last year.

I have a hard time believing that if JMU and Missouri State both called and said we want in that there would be much hesitation in adding both and figuring out how to make 13 work later.

About 70% of our alums are Virginians. Now, I fully understand that some of ya'll consider VA to be the North, but I'll fight you over it 05-nono 03-nutkick

75,000 alums live in the South (VA to FL and over to TX)...83,000 live south of the Mason Dixon line. That is out of a total of 110,000 alumni.

Replace WKU with JMU in the east. Idaho goes and does their thing elsewhere. Replace them with Missouri State in the west. Wouldn't that work?

That's an easy fix. Bye bye Idaho.

Virginia is Southern. Anyone who says otherwise has never been there. Most of the Civil War was fought on Virginia's soil. Only Yankee part of Virginia are the DC suburbs.

For football only Idaho is just one trip every other year. No big deal.
