Not sure who this was aimed at but for my part I don't mind Houston or Temple/UConn/Cincy fans mentioning groups A and B. These designations are real, they are defined by our media contract, and therefore are legitimate topics of discussion.

I'm sure this was aimed at me. I honestly had forgotten about the Group A and B thing, because it was a ridiculous concept that NBC came up with, that meant nothing. And to the guy who made the "Texan" remark, just be aware of my past. I was born an Okie and still have family in Texas and have spent a ton of time there. I'm a fan of Texas. I also know you guys tend to oversell things too, it's part of Texas' charm. I'm looking forward to the continued games with Houston. I hope you guys kill it, because it adds to the AAC's reputation. We've got to build this thing up because the P5 have made it obvious that they want us to go away. I want nothing more than to be a thorn in their side.

The majority of AAC teams are at their ceiling . *cough* Group B schools *cough*

UCONN, Cincy, Temple and UH are The Four Horsemen of this conference and have the best chances of getting out. Many eyes are on us for now to see if we're really the 6th best conference and like many others have said, this is a make or break situation.

With all that potential what did more than UCF, ECU, and Tulsa in CUSA? Also, what indication is thereHouston accomplish that the result will be different in AAC? With regard to Temple, what is significantly different now than in the 90s when they we removed from a power conference for lack of success?

Look Houstons history for yourself. Yes, Houston had a decade of horrible underperformance when the administration completely dropped the ball--other than that, Houston has been a historically solid football program. If the school continues to pump money into its programs and keeps its eye on the ball---it will be among the top non-AQ properties. If it fails to do those things, it could return to underperforming. That said, over its long term history, its decade of underperformance is the exception rather than the rule. Hopefully, those dark days spawned from the legacy of NCAA sanctions and the break-up of the SWC are behind us.

History:

Houston football: 388-341-15 or 53%
ECU football: 408-376-11 or 52%
UCF football: 204-185-1 or 52%
Tulsa football: 594-458-27 or 56%
USF football: 111-78-0 or 58%

Hmmm. Your really going to count all those FCS games? C'mon. We were beating Texas, winning SWC championships, and playing in Cotton Bowls when USF didnt even have a football team. You left out 16 top 25 finishes. You left out 4 SWC championships. You left out a Hiesman trophy winner and a Lombardi Award winner. Innovations such as the Veer offense and Run and Shoot were literally pioneered on this campus.

The problem with many is that they began following Houston when they entered CUSA. Those first years of CUSA comprise literally the worst period in Houston football history. I know its new to you, but the top level of football didnt begin in 1997 or 2001.

You can't pick and choose your history. Tulane was in the SEC for longer than Houston was in the SWC, going to Sugar and Rose bowls. Houston was in the CUSA for only 3 fewer years than the SWC. I'm not belittling Houston, I know its proud history and I think its a fine program with great potential, but no more than most in this conference.

IMO there is one program that, across the board, is a "horseman" for the conference and that is Cincy. They're putting out strong football and basketball programs. UConn I'll give a runner up bc of their basketball pedigree, but football leaves much to be desired. After that it is wide open and even Cincy and UConn could fall back to the pack. They know it, its why they were/are so desperate to get out.

This is a conference of potential, hence the reason we're all here together.
