RE: Expansion rumors
If an HBCU would make the move, what about Tenn State or South Carolina State?

RE: Expansion rumors
I have to say that I too think waiting is probably the better option. With all of this realignment you never know what could happen with other schools looking to go different places, especially if this financial "cap" comes to fruition.
It's a little bit of a downer for athletes hoping to play in a conference championship, but in reality the future strength of this conference could heavily rely on the decisions made in the next 3 weeks. I don't think you "settle."

Jax State, Lamar, Bama State, or wait for JMU.
I'd vote wait...
That spot may be the very last FCS to FBS move. It should not be just handed out cavalierly.

I agree 100% but I also think LU is a better option by far then the others on the list.
Of course, to channel the inner Alex Jones this could be a False Flag and Liberty is already in

May be, but they sure don't seem to be interested. Either too timid...or trying to string us along hoping for a prettier girl.
At some point you have to move on to someone who actually wants what may be the last FBS slot.

Benson should send a formal invitation to the University of Alabama just for fun.... might as well invite the Baltimore Ravens as well.

@WACspartypants Liberty is no longer. Lamar would only be a future invite. They still have a ways to go before receiving an invite.
It is really hard to imagine Alabama State as FBS. I know they are actually pretty close to being ready, but its still hard to even imagine. You just so rarely see an HBCU move up to FBS.
Besides, we have already hit our ASU limit for one league.
I don't know a lot about Alabama St aside from HBCU and they fill up their stadium (like HBCUs tend to do). HOw they would fair outside the SWAC is anyones guess. Who would Troy and USA fans rather have from the state if thats the way it goes?
They have a brand new 26K stadium (expandable to 50K). I know they would be a bit overkill for another FBS team in Alabama, but the more JMU really drags their feet on this the better Alabama St is looking.

Yeah, the big problem with letting them know you're going to wait is then they know they have the upper hand in negotiations.
Best to tell Lamar (or whomever the second option is) that the decision will be made in 6-9 months (whatever timeframe you decide). Do what you gotta do to get your ducks in a row, and we (SBC committee) will do official visits, and at that time you make your pitch.
If you don't want to pitch, then you move on. Cause right now, it does sound like JMU is playing the role of Montana pretty well.

. . . and any day now, Montana's gonna tell the WAC: "YES!"

It isn't like Alabama State has a lot of money. They built that stadium on money won in a settlement. Their basketball RPI this year was 327. Like we need another terrible basketball program. Their baseball RPI is 227 currently. What is so appealing about them?

Find somebody anxious and excited to get a Belt bid. Tell everyone else they have three weeks to make a case to get the bid for what may be the last FBS slot or it goes to those guys.

That would be LU. They are the only ones who apparently want in. Too bad they aren't wanted.
