No s---, Dick Tracy. 03-pissed Who wouldn't right now? If the SBC survives this mass exit, it can grow, but like The Bear used to say, "When the going gets rough, the "tough" get going." The conference still has a lot of life and if schools stay put and wail it out, this conference could possibly be better than coosa in a couple of years if not sooner.

Yes it does, but had the 5 departing programs stayed and Waters added Texas State, UTSA, App State and Ga Southern CUSA would crumble.

What you really meant was, if the 5 departing programs hadn't turned tail and ran, right?

Except for Western and Middle Tennessee, Appy State and Georgia Southern are MORE than adequate replacements for the other three programs. The SBC will survive, count on it. NMSU and Idaho are indeed, way out of the footprint, but so was the Florida teams, IMO and South was closer than any other in the league. Georgia State and South Alabama will pull up in football competition by 2015 and the conference will be stronger than it ever has, but everyone needs to stay put.

Don't count on it, if UL and stAte leave the sbc will be on its knees waiting for the kill shot. Enjoy these next couple of seasons, because after the dust settles on realignment things might not be so bright for some of our beloved teams.

Not likely. It will mean another rebuilding era instead of a momentary blip. Nobody wants to go through that including stAte and UL...but I don't see any way the SBC can be killed.

RE: UL would be interested in joining CUSA
When Penn State moved to the Big 10, the AD found out the night before the press conference.
When Florida State moved to the ACC the president talked to Bowden about a week before he made his decision between SEC and ACC and Bowden and the then president both say Bobby advised him to go to the SEC to insure that UF series remained and though Florida State was more like SEC. President liked ACC academics.

While those are extremes, the reality is this is one place where the chancellors and presidents do much of the work. The story goes that the C7 exit came about because the Big East presidents had a meeting, the pitch as made for Tulane, the presidents agreed to add them and it was when they got back to campus and the AD's and coaches freaked that the presidents made the decision that what they had just done was bad, the AD's around the league were not consulted.

While AD's normally are in the process (often to be able to provide needed information) it is still a presidents and chancellors deal.

It's the cUSA boat that is the one going down. Have any of you looked at their 2015 lineup compared to the sbc? That conference is a joke.

Uh, no. The SBC is here to stay. CUSA is lost in the wilderness and is CONSIDERING grabbing more teams in a quest for relevance. There will be plenty of teams that have about as much name recognition as those that leave. I didn't know half of the teams in the Sunbelt until I heard we might join. There are plenty of teams that will fill in the space that are good programs, and will contribute well.

Not likely to happen, but if it does USA will land safely on it's feet, as I'm sure Troy will also.

The Sunbelt will function as it was always intended to be. A place for the 1-AA move ups to grow and then move on. It's time for ASU and UL to graduate and move on.

I see ULL is taking the muts approach of going to the press to state their case.

Nope, your president was more of a snake leading a coalition to block NSMU as a full member in Hot Springs when he knew damn well that WKU was leaving the Sun Belt. The only reason to do such a thing was to purposely hurt the conference. What he did was far worse then anything Scott Farmer said today.

And for the record, Your AD came out publicly and stated WKU was interested in CUSA after Middle Tenneessee announced they were leaving the conferce.

So you would much rather be dishonest behind the scenes like others have in this conference?

I said it before, we are not in this together when you have WKU's president leading a coalition to block NSMU as a full member knowing full well they have accepted the invitation to CUSA and Troy's chancellor pushing the conference further east so that he can have his rival games from the past with Georgia Southern and Appalachian State. Sounds like everyone has their own agenda and gets upset when someone else explores other opportunities.

Geaux Cajuns

He shouldn't have said it, but you along with other Cajun fans shouldn't be apologizing to anyone for what Scott Famer said today in light of some of their President's and AD's actions in Hot Springs. Some these people are really stupid if they think for one second they don't have their own agendas and tried to sholve it down UL and ASU's throat.

Everyone, please do not generalize based on these two posters going back and forth.
