If WKU does leave I think State either comes along or ends up in the MAC. The MAC would fit State with football driving the bus and basketball being ok. But I'm not convinced that WKU is going anywhere yet and if WKU stays I think UL and State stays

Truth? No. The assumption is that ASU was the school that was rumored to have contacted the MAC, and we have been really really quiet lately. AD magically disappeared from the SBC Tourney for a few days and was supposedly meeting with a conference.

I think most of this started because the MAC is probably the one league that could take ASU and have it make a lot of sense. You guys dont need markets and are stable. All we bring is a strong football program. The rumors heated up today because of the talk that the SBC was losing WKU and one other team. Only way that fits is if CUSA expands to an odd number, picks up a MAC school and two SBC schools, or an SBC member bolts for the MAC.

MAC is really no different travel wise from the belt right now. We could develop an easy rivalry with NIU and a few others. Its just not a cultural fit in my mind.

Without WKU, the closest football program to Jonesboro is ULL. Thats not an easy trip (trust me, Ive made it.) We can get to DeKalb (NIU) faster than ULL because its all freeway.

Olympic Sports would be a nightmare, but for football, it makes perfect sense. I dont think we'd do it though without taking UALR...and I dont see the MAC wanting them.

I dont see it happening unless WKU and Ark State both come to the MAC which would be in direct contrast to all the WKU to CUSA. I this all started with the ULL fans posting on the MAC board saying ULL and State were talking to the MAC. ULL and State dont make sense, But WKU and State does. Then the tweets about Sun Belt losing 2 soon and a few message board posters from UAB and Old Dominion started saying Ark State to MAC.

So just all talk, just was wondering if their was any actual speculation from articles or tweets.

I don't see stAte in the Sun Belt very much longer. Something is going on behind closed doors.

stAte to the MAC is dumb. You guys belong with us down here in the Sun Belt, why the hell would you want to make a parrallel move to a northern league where you have zero history? Arkansas State doesn't recruit the midwest much do ya? I can't imagine the Red Wolves have a bunch of boys from Indiana and Michigan on the squad.

The only Sun Belt school that makes sense for the MAC is Western Kentucky.

1) Benson
2) Idaho
3) Stability
4) More TV
5) Get away from SBC tv handcuffs
6) Warmest MAC school
7) Proven BCS potential

Bad news
1) Hard to win, or even survive, at NIU in December
2) Lose some old friends and exciting new additions (all to be nameless)

Exactly we would recruit southern speed and play north! Mac is more stable than big Eastx2, CUSA and sun belt..plus it guarantees we don't get left with fcs move ups!

The Sun Belt wouldn't be so unstable if folks would stop trying to leave.

FIU,FAU and north Texas wasn't big losses..WKU and MTSU are..if WKU goes Ark st and ULL will see no reason to stay.

Troy, ULM, stAte, and UL...the 4 Horsemen, huh? Maybe it should be; Troy, South Alabama, Ga Southern, and App State? One of these days we'll find a core with some loyalty about'em.

No offense bro but being alligned with ulm and Troy isn't apealing.

WKU,ULL MTSU and Ark st are the 4 teams that make the belt a respectable football conference if half of those 4 leave! Asu or ULL doesnt want to play Texas st, ga southern, south Alabama,ulm every year. We want MTSU , Latech, Southern miss, Marshall...or N. Illinoise, Kent st, Ohio , bowling green

I had my mind straight on losing WKU. I had my mind adjusted to taking NMSU.

But all that PLUS Idaho has done it.
