Then you are insane.

You'd rather associate our university with a fanatical evangelical school than Sam?

Yeah, sorry but glad you aren't the one making decisions.

At least they can fill a stadium. Honestly I want neither. Stop at JMU. I'll take Lamar over Liberty or Sam.

It's unclear what kind of interest (if any) JMU has in the Sun Belt

JMU has played this close to the vest since the jump off....why would they change now?

JMU reminds me of ODU. All quiet until it happens.

You think JMU would accept an invite if offered?

RE: JMU to SBC
We've had two good days of everybody being excited about the entry of App State and Georgia Southern. Most everybody said, "this is exactly what we needed. This will push the Sun Belt further," but now everybody is back to hating us. I'm sorry that WKU is likely moving, but bringing in JMU is not a bad thing, and that should not make everybody suddenly hate being in the Sun Belt. We're going to be fine. No, we're going to be great.

RE: JMU to SBC
Interestingly enough if you guys add JMU along with App and Georgia Southern you guys might end up having a higher conference attendance average than C-USA in the near future. App and JMU have the ability to average over 30k when they get their stadiums expanded. Southern might have the same ability although I am not as knowledgeable about them.

I don't know why people are getting bent out of shape about adding JMU, GSU, and App.

All three will bring up the SBC attendance average. All three have a winning history.

The only terrible decision would be to add Idaho and I'm not even sure if that is official or not.

I've been told that Liberty is an option for the #SunBelt but not high up on the list.

It just feels like a D2 conference now. This isn't good!!

You're not allowed to say bad things about the sunbelt...excuse me Sun Belt.

Conference USA
UNCC - start up
UTSA - start up
FIU - lol
FAU -lol
ODU - FCS

And on top of that no offense but you know it's hit the fan when Conference USA is forced to add WKU in place of Tulsa. That's no where near an even trade off.

If they ever add the Cajuns you can imagine even USM will be gone.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!

I think JMU has been backed into a corner, and the SBC just threw us a rope. I don't think we have a choice, unless CUSA is still in play.

I think you're VASTLY overstating the consensus of the board.

VERY few (aside from App State and GSU fans) were saying "this will push us."

Most everyone was saying "well, it's not a bad choice. At least they're not Liberty, Sam Houston, or Lamar! They have a good fan base and won't drag us down too much."

Don't mistake acceptance for excitement.

And I think most on the board are already tired of hearing App State and Georgia Southern fans how great JMU will be. It's just a simple fact: JMU will certainly not in the short term offset a WKU loss. Not in football, not in basketball. There's no guarantee that JMU will in the long-term offset that loss either. It's not a knock on JMU, it's just a simple fact. You're trading a known quantity for an unknown. And that sucks.

I figure most on here have resigned themselves to the fact that WKU is gone, and most likely (ok, 99.99% sure) we will be taking an FCS team. Doesn't mean it's a happy time.

You know it's because App State decided to take an offer to the Sun Belt. You have wanted to be in a conference with us all your life. Admit it, it's OK. All for you grabbing that lifeline, do it. We can have a lot of fun showing the Sun Belt schools that left why they should have stayed.

What is the concern with JMU? We draw large crowds, have shown a dedication to facilities and have good programs in other sports. Our men's basketball is lacking, but we were the same seed as WKU in the tourney this year. If it's that we're FCS, I understand that, but we draw better than a lot of Sun Belt schools and will eventually have as many schollys...

EDIT: And I am in no way saying we're gonna be world beaters, but I don't see that many draw backs for the Sun Belt (obviously looking through purple colored glasses like Elton John), but I'm open to hearing the concerns of current conference members.

Tulsa not all that great. Had conf champ game at home this past year and had less than 20k in stands. BBAll not good football has had some success but I'll take WKU and history of bball and football getting better.

I like your attitude. I think I am going to like having App State fans around.

JMU is not too good to tak any offer and of course they are interested and will jump. Losing WKU will hurt, particularly in basketball but JMU has a recent national title in football (like WKU did) a large budget and fan support. Why wouldn't they be able to step in and perform as well as WKU has performed?

Seriously, someone tell me why Texas State, App. St., Ga. So. and JMU can't be just as good as FAU, FIU, UNT or WKU within a few years (with the exception of WKU perhaps).

Before anyone answers, it is kind of amusing to see fans of all the incoming, outgoing and remaining schools in the belt and CUSA taking shots at one another. Nobody has room to criticize and all have their flaws.

Good points. I think Texas State is getting lost in the conversation lately but they have a huge amount of upside.
