Thanks...feels good right now to be relevant in Lax...but I think Cuse is a tad overrated right now. I don't think UVA and JHU are Top 10 worthy when the season ends in early May.

Ridiculous.

If anyone is a troll it's the person posting that .jpg. An agreement to damage UMD's lacrosse program? WTF? Most of you aren't that pathetic.

Gross deserves a Jurich level contract, and a Yow level bonus. Severely underpaid, and underappreciated, for his overall work.

I agree COMPLETELY, but sweet Jesus, don't tell him that! We're getting the deal of a lifetime!

IMO, his only significant mistake was firing Coach P and then replacing him with GRob. Other than that, he has been awesome.

What has Gross done? How long's he been there? I was shocked that AD's get paid over $1M. Spetman is probably paid what he deserves. The bonus is likely guaranteed due to how public employee salaries are structured in Florida. FSU's athletics were already on its current trajectory before he came in. Of FSU's 19 Director's Cup sports he's hired, I believe, only 2 or 3 of the coaches, and most facility upgrades were in the works before he came to FSU or would've happened even if he never were hired.

I believe he was hired in '04/'05 time frame.

He got the Carmelo K. Anthony Center (Often referred to as "Melo Center").

He also got the $17mil Indoor Football Practice Facility that was recently announced.

From his page on SUAthletics...

Quote:Gross has increased Athletics’ revenues to record levels by increasing donor giving to its highest amount in history, significantly increasing corporate sponsorships, and creating multiple new line item revenues. The department is the leading campus unit in the University’s ‘Campaign for Syracuse’, a $1 billion fundraising endeavor, which was publicly launched in November 2007. Gross has led a capital campaign, which has seen the construction of the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center, the Manley Hall of Champions, the renovation of Manley Field House to an indoor practice facility, the re-surfacing of football practice fields, the naming of the Carrier Dome field as ‘Ernie Davis Legends Field,’ a weight room, a lacrosse practice field, a field hockey field, an ice hockey training facility and locker room complex, a new Dome field for football and lacrosse, a multi-media studio for Orange All Access, upgraded Dome amenities, new suites and floor seats, and improvements to many other Athletics’ facilities.

Dont forget some of the coaches he has hired. The bb coach that he hired got our womens bb program ranked for the first time in history a couple of years ago. They are ranked now. SU has also enjoyed its highest ranking in the Sears Directors Cup standings in its history the last 3 years. All of that is attributed to Dr Gross, because he either hired or locked up these coaches. So in addition to the vast facilities upgrades he has taken SU athletics to new heights as a whole.

I was upset when he fired Paul Pasqualoni and hired the disaster Gerg Robinson. That has already worked itself out and is his only black mark.
Also, he hired Doug Marrone and now Scott Shafer as the new fb coach, and he is starting to burn it up on the recruiting trail, and so far is off to a solid start and should do better than Marrone.

RE: ACC Lax - Welcome back, Cuse!
The Chancellor told him to fire Coach Pasqualoni after the GTech debacle in the Bowl Game in '04. He unfortunately trusted Pete Carroll's opinion or loyalty to Greg Robinson---that was his mistake. Otherwise he took a severely underacheiving Olympic Sports department and brought them into the Top 50 and now heading towards the Top 20. He corrected the GRob blunder with a very solid hire of Doug Marrone. New coach Scott Shafer looks so far to be another excellent hire.

And finally he prepared and got us into the ACC ahead of storm!
