RE: Tell me McCarthy wasn't right
Wikipedia describes DU as "an online community for U.S. Democrats." But I've long determined that it doesn't cater to your next-door-neighbor Average Joe Dem. And definitely not a place for Blue Dogs. Maybe it did when it was founded. But it's long since been a haven for militant leftists, hoodied Occupiers, and socialists. It's more fringe than mainstream.

Alan Grayson is a member there. I assure you, it is mainstream. Even the DNC itself prided itself on "purging" the Blue Dogs years ago.

The problem is that conservatives are largely static. That's not great for perception but it is great for reality. The conservative ideals of today are more or less the same that they will be in 20 years. They may vacillate a little here or there but basically you can count on it.
Progressives, by their very nature, are going to move further and further to the left. Unlike traditional Liberals modern progressives are not really open and honest about their 50 year plan. They just try to sell you what they can today in an attempt to boil America like a frog in water.

There is truth to that.
I think there is more as well.
One is that disaster doesn't usually strike the next day, so people venture liberal, don't see any immediate negative consequences, so they think it was ok, and all those warnings were just nonsense.
Then that starts to wipe the collective memory of the society. They forget what hard work it took to get them success, they forget how hard life was before, so they're willing to risk that success. On the flip side, even as things get worse, they don't have a good recollection of what they lost. They don't fight for it b/c they can't remember it.
None of this is new phenomena, but I get angriest at those whose responsibility it was to keep those memories in the culture.

Over the years people talk about Socialists, Communists etc., trying to take over the
Country, and others kind of laugh it off. But those radicals now run mainstream organizations
and are elected officials.

I can think of one Socialist(Bernie Sanders) but I am not aware of any more than that. Have any more you would like to share with me?

WTF? You're not going to get much traction with an argument where rehabbing McCarthy is a central point, especially as out of context as this one.
Bull and Torch are framing the problem correctly. Socialism in the US isn't the fault of the socialists.

You probably don't want to agree with me too often. It isn't good for your reputation here.

Really? Almost the entire Obama administration has Socialist ties as do many of his mentors, if not downright Communist. Then again, I see no f'n difference between a Communist and a Socialist. Same principle.
LOL....
