Question WKU Softball takes series 2-1 over #15 Louisiana
Fairly certain I've never posted about softball before but proud of the WKU Lady Softball team for beating an incredible program like UL.

Go TOPS!

RE: WKU Softball takes series 2-1 over #15 Louisiana
I watched the games and the Toppers played well. The pitcher kept the Cajuns off balance, and the girls made a number of great catches in the field. They also did a great job of getting hits in critical situations.

From the Cajuns side, we're having issues with walks and hit batters by all the pitchers, and are giving way too many opportunities to other teams without them having to earn them. I think WKU had the bases loaded in three or four innings yesterday, and I think three times without the benefit of a hit. It was amazing that the game stayed close. I think with the influx of new players (13 FR) and newcomers (4 TR) it's going to take a little time to get a lineup situated and the hitting to stabilize. I think you'll see games where they can beat anyone but also games where they can lose to anyone, which is a first in a long time for the program. It goes without saying that id doesn't help to have your first team All American shortstop & leading hitter out for 3-4 weeks with a broken bone in her leg either.

Don't worry, I'm sure our team will be fully operational when your friends arrive.04-rock

Also, OP, you were so excited that you put a baseball icon next to the thread instead of a softball.

Hardly, and yes I noticed the stiring the pot emoticon.
This is simply the first time in a LONG time this team has appeared so vulnerable. Surprised at our pitching problems; especially since Jordan had such an incredible freshman year in the circle.
Looks like the conference race will be a lot closer than most years. That's not a bad thing for the conference either.

You come to USA this weekend; we played in Lafayette last year. USA has only lost 4 games. One to the #1 team in the country and one to the #9 team in the country. USA has picked up where it left off last year. I look for USA to take the series.

My mistake. I thought I congratulated WKU in the first paragraph, and stated that they did a great job of getting the timely hit which the Cajuns didn't. The rest of the response was a comment on what I've been watching all year, including the tournaments I attended in Houston and Clearwater as well as the games against Texas and WKU. Sorry, I didn't realize I wasn't allowed any other comments.

I do note that the response didn't come from a WKU fan though.

I respect what your gals have done thus far, but I'm afraid you're about to run into a freight train.

There's no way Coach Lotief lets this team lose two conference series in a row. We've gotten off to a rough start, but this team still knows its identity. Look for the Cajuns to Sweep the Jags out of sheer frustration.

Actually, I think it will be a very contested series. From my side, it all comes down to the pitching, which from our side has been a hit or miss proposition (sorry, couldn't resist) this year. I think both teams can be very good, and it may actually be the first time a Cajun team plays another SBC team that is rated higher.

Great call.

Lady Jags sweep double header from Cajuns. Jags go for two sweeps tomorrow in baseball and softball. Lady Jags just may see themselves crack the top 25 for the first time in their short history. Program was started 5 years ago I believe.

Wish I could have watched, but I stayed in town this weekend to watch the guys sweep ULM. It was about what I thought it would be. Congrats to the SoAL ladies, who looked like they did a great job on Saturday.

When Wallace pitches at her best she can shut down anyone (Sundays game), but most of her losses this year have been by giving up HR's (Saturdays game) when she struggles with control. I know they worked during the Fall with a new pitch, and decided to work through her difficulties with control during the season with the long term goal of giving her another strikeout pitch against the great hitters. My major concern right now is clutch hitting, and finding a second pitcher to be a consistent opposite to Wallace.

Congrats on the wins. I am glad we are getting tougher as a conference.

With that being said, our pitching coach is pitching for Team USA and took a leave of absence. Narrissa Meyers, easily the most dynamic player in the Sun Belt and the country, has been out with a broken ankle. The team dynamics are still trying to work its way out, once that is done you will see the same ole Cajuns.

Again congrats, not many teams come into Lamson Park and take a series from us.
