But what alternative do they have? Get together and form the same conference? Then try and resell the TV rights without Cincy and UConn? Not sure it will be much worse, but it surely can;t be better either? Also I woudl think USF would be part of whatever Cincy and UConn are doing that people don't like.

Actually, the best idea might be to form an all-sports eastern wing of the MW---Do successfully what the Big East leadership was too timid to do. That would be different. Even if it didnt work, the threat might be enough to at least motivate the existing schools to help with the newbie entry/exit fees so that the move to the Big East is not such a complete financial joke.

Is that what the BE meeting is about on Friday? Making ECU a full member and then bringing ECU and Tulane in a year earlier than expected? That would explain the recent CUSA moves of moving MTSU and FAU up a year earlier than expected.

I'm not completely sure, but I don't think so. I believe there was an article that quote Aresco as saying the Big East would function as a 10 team football Big East in both 2013 and 2014 no matter when the C7 left.

PirateMarv,
It looks like my previous post has a chance of being incorrect. Who knows how accurate this is but the link suggestions the Tulane and ECU additions could be expedited.

Yeah, I kind of put one and one together on this one yesterday. The other thing that I think that I think is that ESPN is behind this move too and it is aimed at the basketball schools. ESPN probably doesn't want them around this year if they are just leaving for FOX next year. ESPN is probably the party pulling the strings on this Tulane and ECU early move too. This is actually a good move all the way around and it means more exposure for the new teams coming in from CUSA. I
