Big East signs with ESPN confirmed--McMurphy twitter
Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN
Big East presidents expected to vote & approve ESPN deal as early as Monday. Extends media rights through 2020

Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN
ESPN & Big East confirms ESPN has matched media rights deal. Will be official once Presidents approve http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/...media-deal

And Blaudschun needs to break out another case of lipstick for this pig, since the "NBC-SN exposure!" story is now "overtaken by events."

ESPN c*ckblocked NBCSN/Comcast. NBCSN walks away emptyhanded and (if the Sports Business Daily report is correct) has to watch ESPN sublicense much of the BE content to the Fox Sports cable channels.

That is on NBC for trying to low ball the BE. If they were serious about entering into CFB they should have overpaid. ESPN was able to match this offer with the loose change found under the sofa in the executive lounge.

Exactly....and I think the Big East is better off with the world-wide leader.

Yeah right, if you are team that doesn't draw fans and don't mind being mid week filler. Even better if you are one of the 4 big names in basketball who will get the lions share of the ESPN basketball games. This deal is great if you are Memphis. Plenty of basketball coverage and who really cares about the football since they certainly don't.

I understand what you are saying, but I think the Big East has a higher likelihood of being lost in the shuffle with NBC. They are not a serious player in college football. Fox would have been a much better option for the Big East.

The accountants are why nobody knows where NBC-Sports is on the TV dial.

That's what I thought. I wanted a first tier deal with ESPN and split tier 2 with Fox and NBC. You know, cover all the bases.

There's a higher probability of ECU being forced to play some garbage joke of a mid week home game with ESPN, and that's completely unacceptable. This deal is good if you care much more about basketball than football.

As one of the top football programs in North Carolina, ECU deserves better than either outcome. But the average Saturday Big East football game gets lost on NBC. ECU will get more Saturday games on one of the ESPN networks than most other Big East schools.

you have to think ESPN will farm out a bunch of BE games to NBC and the regionals. Problem is there will be no extra money for the BE from this unlike separate contracts would provide

And whatever few Saturday televised games that ESPN actually gives the Big East won't get lost? It's not like they are going to be put on anything better than likely ESPNU. That's no better than NBCSN.

ECU fans need to suck it up when it comes to this midweek game argument. Yes it sucks but WVU did it for years without much of a problem. You guys brag about your attendance so sack up and fill your stadium on Thurs and Fridays

You need to go fu*k yourself and not worry about my reaction to mid week homes games. I'm not opposed to an occasional Thursday night ESPN game against a marque opponent, but it's a mockery and a joke to play on a Tuesday or Wednesday night, and last time ECU got stuck playing a Friday night home game the North Carolina high school athletic association raised such a stink about it that ECU football coaches were banned from high school campuses. So excuse me that those options are a joke.

ESPN is going in dry.

Some of those midweek games were awesome. You're pretty much guaranteed to be the only game on and they are obviously all night games. I'm sure most people can afford to take a day off work once or twice a season and make the best of it. It's not as bad as you guys are making it out to be.

FSN South and SportSouth should be ripe for the taking once the SEC Network launches and siphons off most of the games that are sublicensed now.
