I think Miami and Big Ten champ(if it's Michigan, Michigan St, or Indiana) have #1 seeds right now pretty easily. I think Duke has inroads on 3rd #1 seed. You may be right about Georgetown if we had won vs Florida and then win out.
GTown is a 3 seed right now, if they win the reg season title and get to the BET finals they have a legit argument for a 1 seed. They are sitting at 11 in both polls right now.

RE: Advisory--stay off their board for at least 24 hours
Bracketology shows us as a 4 seed right now(CBS)- which is what their RPI supports.
I don't think we pass Miami if they win out and make the ACC semi-finals even. Big Ten champ ahead(if it's one of those 3 teams). Duke, Gonzaga, Arizona, and Florida would be competing with us for that 4th #1 seed. I think Florida will be one if they win out for sure. The 4th slot is up for grabs- but I don't think it'll matter too much between a 4th 1 and top 2 if you know what I mean.

They are ranked 11th in the country. They will not be a 4 seed if they are ranked in or just out of the top ten, rpi be damned. The committee looks at more than the rpi.
What kind of Hoya fan argues for a lower seed?

I'm realistic.
And- bottom line right now, if they do what they have to do to be ranked 11th end of year, their RPI will be going up if you know what I mean. That'd probably require 5-1 down the stretch and then 2-1 in the BET.

Tournament seeds aren't based on the polls.

Ever see a team ranked #1 not get a 1 seed? Ever see a top ten team seeded 4th? Rankings do play a part. The seeds aren't broken down by RPI ranking.

You do understand at #11, all it takes is 2 teams passing us up to get on the 4 line at #13? Not a huge difference there at all. Our OOC SOS is going to wind up killing us quite frankly- largely due to the Florida non-game.
heck, i know they look at KenPom ratings as well- Hoya's 20th there.

They also look at momentum. GTown is one of the hottest teams in the country right now. No one jumps a hot team.

Really? These guys just completely ignore the polls that they see all year. They are capable of that? I highly doubt that.

RE: Advisory--stay off their board for at least 24 hours
just looked at a list of all bracketology right now..
Georgetown is on average a 3.87 seed right now. 13th best in the country.
I think part of the problem for Georgetown is the #12 team, New Mexico. I think folks are seeding them #3 out west for geographical purposes. Though they are #3 in the RPI.

The polls are just a compilation of individual opinions. If the voters themselves are capable of ignoring these compilations, I don't see why the committee members can't ignore them too.
The committee's staffers provide them with a boat load of date and rankings like the RPI. All of that is plenty to distract them from the polls which really have little or no validity. They are a throwback to the days before computers could give us a far more accurate comparison of what teams with completely different schedules have actually accomplished. I don't think anyone really pays attention to the polls any more. And why should they?

Yes, Louisville in 2005. Ranked # 4 in the AP poll and got as 4 seed in the west.

It would be interesting to see if UConn and UC say screw it, drop their football down to the MAC and ask the Catholic 7 if they can come along. Not sure about UC and X though, maybe if this scenario plays out, Dayton would not get the invite. Would it be worth for both schools to keep their football program for $2 million?
UConn and UC are not happening.
