If they are seriously considering that, does the C7 take Xavier? They could take, Butler, Creighton, St. Louis, Cincy, UConn.

If Cincy left you pick up Xavier, if UConn left you go get Richmond, VCU, or Dayton.

It would be interesting to see how much value UC and UConn would add to a MAC TV deal. If those schools could manage to get in both it would probably be worth more than the 2 million from just the Big East. UC would also save an absurd amount on travel. They would bus everywhere except for Buffalo, UMass. While, more than likely only traveling to 1 of those teams a year.

There has to be more to story than this. I have said if the total value of the conference is less than 4 million per school UC, UConn, and Temple too if they would let them in should join the C7 and park football elsewhere.

The MAC-16

East: UMass, UConn, Temple, Buffalo, Cincy, Miami, Ohio Ball State
West: Akron, Kent State, Toledo, BGSU, EMU, CMU, WMU, NIU

That conference could probably earn those schools a few million in football while improving travel and saving the basketball programs.

Would that be tough sell, maybe but Cincinnati and UConn aren't sticking around for 2 million a year. Maybe the networks know they are already gone.

man, just wonder if there's any chance that Memphis parks fb in Sun Belt, and goes C7?

Houston
Memphis
South Florida

Tulane

I think that lineup ends up with about $50mil a year, or about $5mil per team every year.

I think the issue is that ESPN is still mad about the BE saying No 2 years ago and Fox Sports hitching a ride on the C7. If there is no one bidding and no real likleyhood to have anyone else come in, a lowball offer might be the best that they can get.

ESPN is still mad about the Big East turning down the contract offer two years ago? Maybe so, but the schools that rejected that offer are no longer in the Big East. Your comment makes no sense.

Why would this collection of schools make much more than they did in CUSA? Why would MTSU, UNT, FIU, FAU get as much as those schools did in CUSA?

Truth is...they shouldn't. Just changing chairs and logos adds little real honest-to-goodness value.

You could say the same thing about teams leaving the BE and getting 5X more money in other leagues. Why should these schools make much more than they did in Big East?

"NBC Sports Network verbally offered the Big East between $20 million and $23 million per year for six years to acquire the league's media rights, sources told ESPN.....

NBC Sports Network is expected to submit an official offer to the Big East by next week. Once the Big East receives an official offer from NBC Sports Network, the league must give ESPN, the Big East's current rights-holder, the opportunity to match the deal."

Nothing in there about Aresco telling NBC to take that offer and stick it where the sun don't shine, either. Wow.

The reason the football league is getting low balled is it just doesn't have an identity anymore (and probably not a name either).

Would UConn bolt to the C7 and play football as an independent? We aren't hearing any chatter about that but the TV numbers might work better that way. UConn might believe its too risky to have its football program operate as an Independent.

I don't care how you BE guys spin it, that is crushing. Even if thats just a tier 1 number then you guys are screwed. No more of this tweener league crap, you guys won't be able to afford to stay competitive with the BCS leagues. Cincy, UConn and USF are especially screwed.

BE just learned how valuable that AQ label was. without that auto qualifier tag they are just more weekday feeder content to the Big networks. marketing 101

If the likes of Pitt, SU, WV and Louisville had stayed with the BE, there is no doubt that those schools would have made much, much more than this latest figure. Its likely that the BE would have been making about what the Big12/Acc is now making, had those schools stayed. Those were the most valuable programs that the BE had. Now with them gone, and the BE replacing them with programs that are not as valuable, along with the C7 leaving, its not just a matter of them leaving and getting paid 5 times more just by joining another conference. They are now making, about what they more, or less, would have made had they all remained in the BE anyway with tv deals skyrocketing the way they are.

Something Here just don't pass the smell test..

C7 - 40 Million a year
NBE - 20-23 Million a year

If this was real why wouldn't Cincy / UConn / Temple / Memphis dump their football to try go with the C7 ?
17-23 million more dollars..

It be worth going to the MAC for 2 million more a year just for Basketball

This might be for just T1 or T2

How does CUSA gets mentioned in this topic?

Because the majority of people commiting on this topic are CUSA posters. They would give their left nut to see the BE fail or something negative effect them.

That is a tired statement. Can't we be a little more original.
