The Chicago Tribune article doesn't state definitely that Notre Dame isn't paying, but they also don't mention anything about Notre Dame paying. I take that as saying that Aresco is waving off Notre Dame's second lame duck year. Your Mileage May Vary.

you can't just assume that since it says nothing about them paying that they're automatically not paying. The fact is, they are in the same situation as Pitt and Cuse were this year. I'd guess probably they'll pay 2.5 million(which is what the extra was for Pitt and Cuse to leave early). I don't think necessarily Aresco had much to do with this- he probably gave them options on how much they were going to have to pay for leaving in 13-14 or 14-15- and ND chose the lesser of the payments.

Notice the lines about the C7 not being ready for next year? Until they all agree on revenue distribution with the incoming members (and the incoming members are likely not wanting to pay faster exit penalties from their current conferences) then nothing will happen.

Jack Swarbrick says ND remains in Big East in 13-14 but "interest of everybody to figure out way to get it done sooner rather than later"

#NotreDame stays in Big East for '13-'14, but AD Jack Swarbrick says '14-'15 ACC arrival is no guarantee. Trib update: http://trib.in/X9tMB9

2014? 2015?

It doesn't appear to be that big of a deal either way for ND.

If it were, Swarbrick would write the check.

Notre Dame leaves when Louisville leaves. They're not going to stick around.

Notre Dame is such a different animal I don't think you can say that. I can see them slow playing this big time to protect themselves if the ACC gets gutted. If so, ND would sue to not have to pay the ACC the 50 million dollars(saying it's not what we joined)- probably would have a great case- and then could join the C7 if they wanted, or B12 for all but football.

Well Friday was the 1st. A couple of weeks ago she announcers during an ND game said we will know more about realignment on the 1st. Hinted that Bret said nd might be gone after this year. I posted a thread on it. Now we know
