Look, I guess you can never say never. But, even if issues like the GOR, the LHN, the political ties with Baylor & Texas Tech could be dealt with.....why Texas to the ACC?

This is going to sound arrogant but it is true. Texas could pick up the phone, call the Pac, the B1G or the SEC and have an offer to any of those 3 in a heartbeat if it wanted one.

This......

Also when the SWC Spit took place, I Don't believe are fearless leaders new the damage it did to some of the other Texas schools, and that's why Tech & Baylor will be tied to Texas...

For the gain of one school, but to cost the others don't help out the state of Texas....

But never say never

If the Texas legislature was to do anything at all--they might force Texas to take Tech and Houston with them. Tech and Houston are both state funded schools that would benefit from increased income (indirectly helping the state). Helping out Baylor or TCU really does nothing for the state. The only reason Baylor got a leg up in the original SWC split was because a Baylor alum (Ann Richards) was governor at the time. That isnt the case currently. To be honest, I doubt the legislature would do anything at all this time around.

Texas isn't forced to carry Tech. Despite us telling UT no dice on the LHN, they realize the value we add to a conference. As long as Deloss is in control, UT will never help UH. If I'm a UH fan, I'm rooting for Deloss to get kicked to the curb.

As the 3rd largest fan supported school in a state with 26 million, we won't be left behind. Yes, right now we need Texas but that is changing and the Texas Leg knows it as well.

I don't see Tech (or Houston) getting too much protection from the state legislature. For every pro-Tech state legislator, there's going to be a legislator from a district with UTA/UTD/UTSA/UNT/etc saying "why does Tech get special treatment and not my local Texas public college?" Aggie Nation doesn't really have a dog in the fight either, and Bevo will probably be able to create coalitions to get what they want.

You have a valid point but 1 thing remains true. Those congressman might do lip service to the small amount of fans that live in their district but they know where their bread is buttered. Houston legislators tried to lobby the Big 12 on behalf of UH and they were laughed at.

I don't care for our Chancellor but he is former congressman in the state of Texas, has a home in Austin and knows pretty much anyone that matters in Texas state politics. We are protected because of our size and vocal fan base.

Why wasn't this thread deleted the moment it was posted? I can make crap up too. How about this? The twelve FBS teams in Texas to form their own league--Big Tex Conference. The LONE STAR division will consist of Texas, UTSA, TCU, North Texas, Rice and UTEP. The YELLOW ROSE division will include Texas Tech, SMU, Houston, Texas A&M, Texas State and Baylor. Teams play each team in their division plus three from other division for an 8-game conference schedule. Championship game between division winners to be held first weekend of December.

We tried that in the past. It was called the SWC and it died for a reason. TV execs didn't care to watch UT-SMU, Tech-UH, Baylor-Rice on Raycom

They would love to be on the east coast in front of 50% of the USA TV population. Accepting ND showed Texas the ACC can be flexible. There are no reports only facts backing this statement. I did not eat sushi with insiders. I have no connections to support this view. But it is as factual as 99% of what I have read on this subject in the last month.

Who will the Big 12 get to replace Texas & Oklahoma?

The East Coast does not have 50% of the population. More like 35%.

According to this, 47% of the U.S. population is in the eastern time zone, 33% central, 5% mountain, 14% pacific.

Who will the Big 12 get to replace Texas & Oklahoma?

1- If they weren't happy they wouldn't have signed a GOR and expanded the league.

2- The ACC wasn't flexible with the LHN.

3- Texas and OU aren't leaving in the next few years if at all.

This is all true. That being said, if ESPN at some point decides the LHN is a failure, pulls the plug, and writes off their losses then it's anybody's guess on what happens at that time. I don't think ESPN is going to give up on the LHN for a while, however. They've invested far too much money to give up this soon.
