Attendance...
Attendance this season has been very good. I think with our good start this season and expectations, fans are more excited about the team then in recent memory. i know i am! We are averaging 2,656 per home game. If we win, they will come! GO BRONCOS

RE: Attendance...
It's been decent. Our students have flat out SUCKED.

I wish someone would put 400 flyers on the student section seats before the game that say

"STUDENTS DON'T SIT"

We need to ritualize the student AND community experience. It needs to be a place where students can burn a lot of energy and hormones, and feel engaged as community.

The students at the EMU game sat on their ASSES the whole game. It would be nice if someone would work earnestly on this before we host CMU.

Agreed, especially since the weather has been horrible.

Won't happen unless they are sitting court side on top of the action. None of them want to sit underneath and behind the hoop, and rightfully so. Kind of hard to get them fired up when they are in the upper balcony.

UA has a great setup for adults IMO. Horrible for students though.

RE: Attendance...
A big part is there isn't really a core of diehard students. My freshman year of 04-05 there was a good group but they were mostly seniors. There wasn't enough underclassmen to take over for them, and it dwindled down to what we have now. Didn't help the next 2 years had several underwhelming performances compared to the previous years.

Agreed, they weren't bad seats when the bleachers were right on the baseline. Now they are awful, too far from the court, can't see the scoreboard b/c of the upper deck, and tons of people in the way b/c of the walkway between the seats and the court.

Anyone know the reason that they were moved back?????

Current NCAA rule is a minimum 10 feet of space between the basketball court boundary lines and spectator seating area.

Suspect some old facilities are grandfathered in until they make some sort of change.

Yeah, from 98 - 04 (HS and WMU), the student section was great, and WE STOOD!!)

IF WMU basketball keeps winning students will be there. A winning exciting team is more important than where seats are.

Flash back a number of years and WMU students had great prime seating on the side for basketball. With so-so teams they were always almost empty so those prime seats went to season ticket holders who wanted to pay to sit there.

RE: Attendance...
Lower level sucked when they moved it back. Impossible to see over the cheerleaders, people always walking in the way, and if you're above the third level you have a big pipe in your face. We did get better reactions and were able to get in some opposing team's heads a few times- I remember getting a ball whipped at me several times during warm-ups before a game against Detroit.

The group of 8-10 students I would go with migrated to the upper deck after the 07-08 season. Those seats were a hundred times better. Right on top of the action and a great view. We were able to stand and not have anything in our way. It's a shame more students don't take advantage because I think sitting up there is great.

I'd love to get the Zoo rocking like the 03-06 days again. I went to a lot of games back then when I was in high school and The Zoo was always full and rocking.
