Down 34-19 at half. Not playing well. They're having a lot of butterfingers tonight. Lemons took a hard hit on a (clean) pick and went back to the locker room, I think. Schweibert has been in for about a minute.

on a bright note, Smith just had an absolutely nasty baseline dunk over a defender which also drew a foul

He's had a few nice dunks lately. But other than that tonight, he (along with pretty much everyone else) has had a horrible game.
60-41 with 8:55 left.

Juice continues his high level of play. Lemons is injured andwe are even shorter on players. Definitely the step back after two forward. I believe Boothe's HS teammate plays for WMU.

Just asking, was last year's team better? Lost one starter, but we have a center and a bunch of guys with another year of experience.

Last year's team was deeper w/Deere and Mathews getting minutes, but Dennis only played half the year and we still won games. With Lemons hurt we are desperately shorthanded.

IMO, last year's team WITH Dennis was better than this year's team. This team will not match last season's win total, although had Dennis stayed they may have. I realize Dennis isn't doing much at Iona this season, but he was becoming very comfortable here by the end of last season. This game tonight is symbolic of how this season will likely continue--a step back every time we seem to have taken a step forward. We beat Kent on the road, then struggle (but win) against a young Central team at Savage and then get clobbered by a young Western team at their barn. BUT...I will be very surprised & disappointed if next seaon's team doesn't at least win the MAC West.

It'll be tough to match last year's win total since we played a total of 8 more games than we will this year (3 more regular season games, and 5 more post season games). Last year we played 36 games, this year we will play 28 games. To match last years win total (19-17), we would need to go 19-9 this year. To reach the same win%, we need to finish with 15 wins, for a record of 15-13. So we would need to finish 9-6. I see that as entirely possible.

he certainly is the cat w 9 lives of basketball eligibility. 3 D1 schools, 4 years on the court, 2 transfers, 1 redshirt season. i see his professional career taking him to hungary, venezuela, south korea and estonia by way of morocco.

Very good point--and honestly, if this team finishes with an overall winning record, which would also mean a winning record in the MAC, then I would be pretty happy given how this season was set up going into it...

Not to mention he went to somewhere around 3-4 high schools.

Last night's performance reminded me of old Mets teams or the current Jets. Mega let down after opening MAC play 2-0

RE: MBB @ WMU
Everyone who has watched this team knows we can beat WMU by 10 at home.... barring a scoring drought in the final 5 minutes of a game..... I think it's crazy how well we play at home sometimes, then we'll end up relinquishing a lead late in the game to barely win, or lose in pathetic fashion. (Inbounds pass off the scoreboard)

That's exactly what happened last year. 22 point loss in Kalamazoo followed by a 9 point win in Toledo.
Very easily could happen again.

You're probably too young to remember, but about 15 years or so ago, Stan's teams would regularly open up like a 20 point lead early in a game, then blow it and lose. OMG, it was sooooo frustrating!

I went to games when I was young, but the 2001-2002 team with AJ Shellabarger is as early as I can remember.
