Sounds like Benson might be trying to play harball.

RT @andrewrivins: Sun Belt Commissomer Karl Benson told me yesterday that #FAU and #MTSU would have to pay the $1 mil exit fee. No discounts

Why is it "hardball"? The agreement was $1 Mill if you leave early. FAU and MTSU are leaving early.

As he should ... why should MTSU or FAU get a discount?

It's only $1 million, not like the $50 million that the ACC is demanding. If you want to leave, pay it.

Oh Im not disagreeing. If FAU and MTSU want to leave early then thats the price we have to pay.

Im sure that MTSU and FUA have tried to negotiate it down, any sane instituion would. But I wouldnt have any issues with paying the full fare either.

So is my mortgage company playing hardball by making me pay what I agreed to pay when I signed my mortgage paperwork? Lol

SBC exit fee was $500K, then $1 mill voted in. But validity of $1 mill will be disputed. Could be settled for less or SBC could fight it out

RE: Leaving SBC Early
We aren't trying to scam anyone. If the agreement were ironclad and there was truly no room for discussion, no room for negotiation, why is he just now making these definitive statements when we announced nearly two months ago and have been talking about leaving early almost as long. Clearly a hardball move.

A cute line from skully, but these are far from comparable scenarios.

I would not be completely surprised if Ga State is on CUSA's radar. They seem to favor markets above all else.

Please do. Take em!

From your mouth...

Hey, Prove me wrong! But last year didnt give me any hope for yall here next year....But Im glad we get a close game to us....Words from our AD is TROY is coming to Atlanta to play yall this year. Get ready for a TROY invasion, It wouldnt look good to have more Trojan fans than Panthers....Just saying.

I said from your mouth as in to God's ears as in I am ok with exiting. With FAU, FIU, MTSU and North Texas gone we're the last Metro standing before playing a game. As for away fans we have yet to see any visitor bring more than 3k to our games so I am not worried about Troy fans outnumbering us. 04-cheers

MT did not vote for the $1 million.

I don't think the Cajuns did, either.

Cajuns are pro-MT right now, from what I've been told.

In all fairness, the $1 million exit fee hasn't always been a part of the SBC. And when the vote passed, it was already pretty common knowledge that we would be leaving soon. We will probably still have to pay it, but we never voted for a $1 million exit fee.

The $1 million is an EARLY exit fee. If MTSU/FAU were to stick around for another year the million would not be paid.

I agree on Ga So but I think they will go with Sam as # 2 in this round to replace the 2 current holes. I keep hearing Apps Location issues are keeping them out. I personally think they are a good fit.

If MTSU and FAU leave that is 2 more holes. App and LU!
