UT commit DeJuan Rogers visiting Illini this weekend
Glad to see Beckman cant do his own work and has to go fishing in our pond to try and save his sinking program. Rogers doesnt show even an Illini offer but I bet 10-1 it comes when he walks on their campus this weekend. Hope he is as strong to UT as he has mentioned he is. Illinois is a train wreck that will not get back on the tracks even after Beckman is gone after next year.

Agree. Beckman will be gone after next season and will never get another HC job. Have fun being a DB coach at Tiffin.

Ask a couple of former UT recruits how things worked out at OSU and ND. This has the potential to be a really great class for UT.

A very wealthy DBcoach at Tiffin. Plus he'll have memories of leading the turnaround at UT to keep him going.

HuH...and here I thought he was the savior of our program four years ago. I think this shows why coaches like Urban Myers and Nick Saban (who in one year was very successful here) are paid so well. It's not easy to turn a BG, Utah around and then carry that success to an SEC or B1G team. And the coah TB followed was a very good recruiter, who had SEC coaching experience and some success at first there.

No surprise there. Offer him before he shows up on campus and then try to close the deal on the official. And then hopefully he says thanks but no.

There are some real talented DB's that are interested in the Rockets.COGS

He can play for a coach who will likely be fired in a year or a coach who will likely be given the opportunity to coach a major program in a few years. Tough choice. His coach at Cass is Thomas Wilcher. Wilcher's son, of course, goes to UT and will likely be a "medical" redshirt for last year.

Wilcher has been a real playmaker on defense and special teams.

I agree...not saying I'm hoping to lose him but if he decides to lose football games for four years, there are studs waiting to win games for four years. Lots of real talented players checking out the Rockets lately and unfortunately there aren't enough schollies left to bring them all in.

Also, Wilcher has been building a program in Detroit similar to Ted Ginn Sr's program in Cleveland. Too bad Toledo couldn't have got Ted Ginn Sr's son to Toledo the way they did with Wilcher's... 04-rock

Dolphin fans, media analysts, and players are very familiar with Ted Jr. For Miami, Ted Jr was not a good route runner, mediocre to poor hands, and afraid of contact. Great speed but that was it.

That Cass Tech program was built long before Coach Ginn turned around Glenville. That new (ish?) Cass Tech building looks gorgeous from the outside. Love to get a look at the inside.

Rockets have had a number of really good kids from Cass Tech over the years...I remember a number of them who were real solid on the field and quiet focused types in the classroom and off the field...Mike Grayson comes to mind but there were plenty of others over the years.
