Wayne Bolt to be Troys new DC
That's what's we are hearing.... This is great news. This guy was at Troy from 1997-2002 as DC and recruited D-Ware and Osi.

He has been serving as Director of Football relations at Auburn University the past couple years..

He also interviewed for the DC position at USA.... Expect an official statement

Pete Roussel‏@coachingsearch

Sources tell me Wayne Bolt is the leading candidate to replace Jeremy Rowell as the DC at Troy University. http://CoachingSearch.com

RE: Wayne Bolt to be Troys new DC
In 1991, Bolt joined the staff at Troy University, working under fellow former Auburn assistant Larry Blakeny as the offensive line coach. In 1997, he was promoted to defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the Trojans. Bolt's defenses were extremely successful at Troy. In 2002, in only the second season competing at the NCAA I-A level, the Trojans produced one of the nation's top defenses under Bolt's guidance. The Trojans ranked 4th nationally in total defense, yielding only 276.8 yards per game. The unit ranked 13th in rushing defense (105.3 yards per game), 30th in scoring defense (21.0 ppg) and 33rd in pass efficiency defense (112.42).

I'm not sure if this is good or bad. His defenses at Troy were deadly. But his defenses at UAB and Iowa State weren't. Then again, UAB and Iowa State aren't exactly big on talent.

Anything is better than Jeremy Rowell though.

He was part of the UAB staff that went to a Bowl in 2004. If any coach can get that program to 5+ wins much less a bowl is good lol.

He has been at Troy before and has quite a history there...

If you're Troy, you go with what you know...no matter what.

Coaches tend to hire coaches they know or that have been vouched for by someone they trust.

Good hire. Could have done a lot, lot worse with 99% of the other candidates.
Time for Troy to really kick some butt.
