RE: NC State game thread
Seems that when a favored opponent (UM, Ill St, now NCST) puts a little run together on us, it's really lights out.

He's thinking ahead. Post game excuse. "We didn't get any breaks from the refs."

Yep. Great technical helped inspired NC State to really put it away as oppossed to inspiring his own team. When does he have to win one of these games before Principle Dunn calls him in ?

I think after Hawk beat SIU (Dunns old stomping grounds) he got a free pass. Part of it is scheduling. When he scheduled Northwestern, Va Tech, UCS, etc. he had competitive games, even won a few, and got some 2 for 1's. These days we schedule teams like Duke, scUM, and NC State where the final result is never in doubt, and they'll never come to our place.

It's a lot easier to score when you three and four step around your opponent. Again, NC State does a lot of traveling, especially under their basket.

We deserve better. 03-melodramatic

He gets these game very rarely and when he does the opposition is uninspired ( unlike football where you only have 12 games and teams are rarely uninspired basketballs 32 games with travel leaves some teams to be less than inspired) and he never gets one. The principle gotta bring him in the office or at least head counselor KB

Both teams are travel heavy though. We will have chances now as the game is outta hand and NCState will get sloppy. If we had a coach that is

Man, tough crowd. WMU hangs in there with one of the most talented teams in country for about 30-35 minutes in a 40-minute game and the critics still find something to talk about.

I'll agree that Richie made some pretty critical mistakes/turnovers in the game that led to too many easy N.C. State buckets, but that's kind of nit-picking.

N.C. State is pretty good guys.

Another vintage "moral victory."

"These young pups played their hearts out and stayed with NC State for nearly a half."

My fear is we're seeing a peak performance. By the time they're seniors they'll all be fat and out of shape, and give us a ten win season.

I'm not calling it a moral victory.

They're not going to beat teams like Michigan or N.C. State. I didn't expect WMU to win this game, but they kept it pretty competitive for longer than I expected. Really just a couple of poor 3-minutes stretches IMO.

Competitive is when you play it close down to the final 5 minutes. We were out of this game with two minutes left in the first half.

In 35 years of watching us I've watched WMU and other midmajors play truly competitive basketball against big time programs. And no, I don't consider USF a big time program. Hawk hasn't played a top program tough since he beat Va Tech a 150 games ago.

Positives from the game

1. Free throws, 16-17 94 percent!
2. Paul and Whittington held their own, we have a bright future with these two.
3. Perry is solid off the bench, contributes on the boards.
4. This has to be the best rebounding team i have seen in a LONG time.
