1 Home game over a span of 41 days!
Here we are...in the height of college basketball season and we, the Bronco fans, get 1 stinkin' home game over a span of 41 days? Before today, the last home game was 12/1/12 and the next one is 1/12/13. College BB in droves on TV every night but it's almost like we're not even part of the College BB party. Again, I hate our schedule. Seems kinda odd to me.

This is the life of a mid-major.

Not every mid major. Ohio has been buying home games for a couple years now. Costs about 40-50k to buy a mid major home game without another away game attached. Ohio spends 200-300k on this every year.

WMU chooses not to do this.

"height of college basketball season"?

I don't even start paying attention really until after New Year's when conference play begins.

Look at the number of BAAAAD games (mismatches that result in blowouts) in November and December.

I could care less about us playing Mount St. Mary's or something called High Point.

But your point about home games is well-taken.

RE: 1 Home game over a span of 41 days!
If it costs 45k or so to buy home games...what's the real cost when you figure in the money saved on travel and the net tic sales at UA?

We averaged 3100 last season. 2500 are probably paying customers. At $15 per tic that's $37500 less operating expenses.

Throw in the fact that our record is typically much better at home, which would help attendance even more...and it makes no sense to me why we don't buy home games.

It should be noted that it makes even more sense for Ohio because of how they rock in attendance compared to other MAC schools.

How so?

Figure 250 students on hand are free.

That leaves 350 or so that are glad handed to recruits, player tics, ect...

Heck, there are probably only 25 or so given to the entire coaching staff and team entourage.

Most of the lower deck outside section across from the WMU bench is WMU player family etc. There is always more than 25 seated there.

WMU did have have to play for the Europe trip this year and right now that expense looks to be paying dividends with team play.

Would still think 350 is a good number

Its ridiculous. Doesnt even feel like we have a basketball team. Just another example of the athletic dept not understanding how to get and keep people interested in your programs.

Oakland is in the same boat. 1 D-I home game so far this season. 2 exhibitions and 1 game vs Albion and 1 vs Rochester College.

It certainly was a fun game to watch for Bronco fans.
Fast moving with lots of crowd pleasing slamdunks.

Not me! Love Hockey but it's far down the list behind FB and BB. From a national perspective, it's practically an afterthought at best. Great sport, great in person, hit almost all the games but, personally, not in my top 2 favorites.

RE: 1 Home game over a span of 41 days!
Same with Toledo. We have had ONE home game, and that was on 11/28. Our next home game is 12/28. We have zero actual games from 12/8 to 12/28 (we scheduled an exhibition game on 12/18 to break up the 3 week break). We also lost 3 home games due to our APR penalty from our previous POS basketball coach.
