USM just went 0-12. Nuff said. I'm more a Memphis fan than most on the MTO forum. I want UM to succeed not continue this love affair with UAB and USM.

I wouldnt say quitting. Im simply acknowledging that if Boise goes back to the Mountain West, which all signs indicate is in fact the case, then there is no longer enough viable candidates availalble that are capable of generating the value required to continue the pursuit of a nationwide conference. Frankly, the effort thus far to create a legitamate presence in the west is best described as being equal parts clumsy, feeble, and timid.

No dog in this fight, but this deserves calling out.

One losing season out of the last 18 ain't bad and I'm sure you DON'T know anything about how that feels. We got rid of the problem quickly and will be back to winning quickly what ever conference we are in.

I have yet to meet a Memphis fan that thinks USM doesn't belong, especially based on one season. We have a passionate rivalry with Louisville, but the Golden Eagles are our oldest rivals. To pick Ball State over USM, straight up, I'm calling his ass out, that's not a Memphis fan. No ******* way in hell.

You can call me what you want. The fact is I bleed Tiger blue. Just because I don't like nor support USM to the new league or any league we're in does not make me a fraud. This is why Memphis has never been able to get with the big boys because of fans like you wanting to stick with the little boys because of close traveling. If UL or UC did that they too would be where Memphis is now.

But I got news for you. Whatever happens we will NOT be going back to CUSA. Bowen is not RC Johnson and will do what's best for the University and that is to take care of basketball first. Football would die in an even more watered down CUSA as would basketball. Boosters would bail on the school and recruiting would sink to an all time low. Going to the MAC for football is the better option than returning to a league that will be lower rated than the Sunbelt. And I don't care what fans like you think of it or not. I only care what's BEST for my university. Not for our long time conference mates.

Your whole last paragraph? Dogshit, because I know you aren't directing that at me. You take the best programs available, period, doesn't matter where they come from so feel free to explain Ball State > Southern Miss. And while I could trap you with this, I'll be up front and inform you I was born and raised in Portland, IN, a mere 30 minutes from Ball State.

I haven't heard any inside info to suggest as much but signs sure seem to suggest that if the BE doesn't commit to creating an all-sports western division that not only won't UNLV and Fresno come, Boise and SDSU could very well bail too.

At this point, I'm totally conflicted about what would be best for SDSU. However, if the MWC can lure BYU back, that would make a big difference as it's very apparent the BE is never going to persuade the Borg to join.

the only way the MWC is getting BYU is if BYU and BOise retain all their tv rights and at that point what is the point of even being in a conference unless we can do the same, but where are WYO and CSU going to steal money from?

Then your backing of USM makes even less sense. But, if you want to get technical about it, there's at least 5 schools better than USM on a national level and prestige than USM that could be considered before USM. Northern Illinois is playing in a BCS game. When was the last time USM did?

It's all about markets and how many eyes you can pull in. USM doesn't have that impact on TV dollars. If they did then I would understand the lovefest.
