I hope Ruffin never leaves.

Still butt hurt from the 2010 game? Sure it was tough watching that catch over and over on ESPN. Or maybe from the 08 game where we picked your vaunted QB again, and again, and again.

....but that wasn't under Ruff. I think that's the point. Ruff looks more and more like a Sendek/Lowe @ NCSU or Bunting @ UNC situation as time passes.

No excuses.. we had our chance.

Our defense hasn't been good since 2009. That being said they gave us a chance to win in the second half. Our offense cost us the game. We had the ball inside their 25 yard line with a chance to take the lead on back to back possessions and came away with 3 points. Carden kept trying to make the big play instead of the smart play or check down. That is what young QBs do. We will be good on offense again next year but we will not beat good teams until we get a defense that can stop people. Ruff needs to make the tough call and replace Mitchell. If he doesn't he risks his own job in the next couple of years. The Pirate fans are getting tired of this crap on defense.

Brian Mitchell should not be a D Coordinator anymore. Hudson is on the market, we should be going after him.

We gave up 43 to a sunbelt team. Our D was the problem.

We absolutely had our chances. Too many dropped passes, too many bad decisions by Carden, and the Pirates came out FLAT. We played tough but just had way too many mistakes. ULL made enough plays to win the game, we didn't.

The call didn't sink us. Giving up 591 yards of offense to ULL did.

Ruffs cowardly call to go for the FG instead of the 1st down/TD changed the MO in my opinion. Should have gone for it there at that point in the game. We had everything going our way and offense was clicking. 4th and 2 on the road should have gone for it.

You must have missed where we got the interception at their 40 then we preceded to throw an interception after picking up five yards on first down. That lost the momentum.

Everyone watching the game at my house said the same thing. There was an opportunity there to take the lead and completely take the momentum. I still put this loss on the offense.

The defense played the read option terribly. As one Pirate that coaches football said, "Pirate D had no clue how to defend it. When the DE crashes down, either the LB or the Safety have to account for the QB. All game long today, the end and the LB and or safety crashed on the tailback. We were still doing it in the 4th qtr. That is
coaching! "

You were expecting a perfect no TO game for us? Glad you have such high expectations for the O and low expectations for the D - how about that AWFUL run up the gut on the 98 yard drive by uL.

The 2010 game was when we beat a Tulsa team that finished the year ranked. And an NC State team that finished the year ranked.

That mistake by Carden was the play of the game IMO. Threw into double coverage and a guy was wide open underneath. He's a great QB but still young. I also thought Ruff should have gone for it inside the twenty going in to take the lead and settled for 3. Those two possessions win us the game with TDs.

All that being said, we shouldn't have to be perfect on offense to win. We need changes on defense. 3 years of no improvement is enough. We have some talent on defense IMO. They just don't look confident in the system.
