I should say my biggest concern with a large portion of our fans is our constant harping and hand-wringing over UT and A&M. Yea, they're **** bags. Yea, Dodds is Satan. No, I don't want to be around them. But they don't define us.

At the depth of bad seasons (4-8) we still have people that fret that we can't get in a conference because of existing politics. Sometimes we're like the guy that says his yard looks like **** because all the wealthy people hired the best leaf blowers.

Boise raked their own ******* leaves. I hope like hell our administrators will understand that the next time we hire a ******* football coach.

I don't think any of us are in as bad a shape as we think. Just ******* win, baby!

To say we as a whole have an inferiority complex is not true. I know plenty of Coogs who feel we should be in the Pac-12 any day now. I'm just saying don't tell company we feel we are inferior just because your circle of friends feel that way.

I think we definitely carry a chip on our UH shoulders over being politically steamrolled by UT's Deloss Dodds. I think most of us do NOT feel inferiority however. I view the playing field as stacked in favor of the two state schools receiving PUF funding-UT and TAMU. The silver spoon attitude and arrogance of these schools provokes deep hatred by UH fans and alums at times.

I dont think of it as an inferiority complex. To the contrary, when we were allowed to play UT and TAMU, our school thrived in a meritocracy. We do far more with far less.

While you may think it is bad being under the thumb of Texas and A&M believe it or not Fresno and SDSU have it worse with Cal and UCLA.

You can donate and add doctoral programs which will make you attractive to a major conference down the line. Fresno and SDSU are prohibited by State law from offering doctoral degrees which permanently binds them to the second tier of acadamia.
SDSU will tell you they offer degrees but all those degrees say UCSD and not San Diego State.

When the legislature tried to change this law the UC's lobbied hard to keep it in place. So in comparison UT and A&M are sweethearts.

Maybe that use to be the case at SDSU but it look likes SDSU does offer some Doctoral Programs today:

they may seem like sweethearts but as a graduate of UTA school of Architecture I can say that they dont like a branch school to offer a similar/better program to any that the flagships offer and they control the funding and access to the PUF and are instrumental in steering research dollars their way...so they may not block you (as uta had about a hundred phd's this last semester) but I dont think they are that motivated to help either..our current university pres. has worked hard to get funds and get new facilities...

With the exception of the doctoral degree in education those are all joint offerings with UCSD. Those programs all exist at the discretion of UCSD and all the degrees are given by the UC system not the CS system.

San Diego State cannot confer doctoral degrees in any field other than education.

That sucks for the Cal State schools.
