Hmm, that sounds like it could be Memphis. Tulane is Western division. Still far, but right on Miss River and Memphis is the closest that could work for the MWC.
Houston.
There aren't any divisions yet. Houston's not western.
Yes there is too. Aresco had already announced it prior to Louisville leaving. Then when Tulane was picked they were announced for the west division. The East already has 7 members: Cincy, UConn, Temple, ECU, Memphis, UCF, and USF.
The West so far has: Boise State, SDSU, Houston, SMU and Tulane.
Thanks. I didn't know that.
But I still bet it's Houston.
Honestly though, if schools are going to seriously listen to MWC overtures, they must have gotten a heck of a renegotiation. Or maybe one contingent on a few things.

Yes, last I saw it was 28-10 UCF.
I've had a few beers and now it says ville and Rutgers but both of us in the room saw Cincy

The Mountain West has reached an agreement to restructure its television deal with CBS, multiple conference sources told CBSSports.com.
What? They didn't know within the same company????
Me thinks they know the numbers and aren't that high and they are just playing it up since the MWC is with CBS.......
There is no new money right now, so yes they know the current money. Boise comes back, then they can renegotiate, it also seems that the MWC gets some if not all the money from spinning off 2 packages of games (that really is the question, is cbs giving those away for free, or are they taking a cut on those games)

Nice catch yoda. I still, rightly or wrongly, like the strength of schedule in the NBE as opposed to the MWC. The SOS will be a huge factor in determining who seeds higher, something bsu should consider.

How can it be Houston if they are WEST? It clearly said a NON-WEST DIVISION MEMBER. Nobody fits that description and is closest geographically than Memphis. Just to put this out there, our AD Tom Bowen was supposed to address the Big East situation this past Monday. He has yet to address the issue. Where there's smoke there's usually a fire.

He posted a question as well as a prediction.
He inquired if anyone was watching the Bowl game tonight. I answered. He predicted Cincy to leave the Conference in 2014. I did not respond. I hope this clears things up for your inebriated mind.

That was my thought when the reaching out to a non-western school was thrown out there. I think the national media has not been through thread after thread explaining how Houston is eastern

Yoda out...
Great news...This would be the best thing for all parties involved. Boise St should stay with the MWC and maybe they would let SDSU back into the fold as well.
The the Big East can focus on building a solid all sports league that does not cover 4 time zones.
If you lose Boise you lose SDST. I just dont see the BE adding two more teams that will make UCONN and UC happy enough to not jump at an invite from the ACC or anywhere else.
I know...Why the hell would we want them if we did not have a western division. Also assuming Navy decides not to join the Big East now that would put the Big East at 11 teams. Just need to add one team for a good 12 team league. Even if the Big East would have been able to add Boise St, SDSU, BYU, and AF for a western division that would not keep Cincy or UCONN around if they were invited to a Big 5 league. You can not really worry about them leaving at this point. They are two of the crown jewel schools outside of the Big 5 conferences so you affiliate with them as long as they are available. When/if they move on you just have to back fill with the best teams that you can find.
Clearly the MWC has gone of the offensive to prevent becoming irrelevant...There is a huge chess game going on between conferences, schools, and television networks. There are some schools that are playing both sides trying to get some special consideration and see where they can get the most money. At some point common sense does come into play and since the TV Networks have made it clear that they are not going to pay any of the conferences outside of the "Big 5" any kind of real money for their TV contract there is really no point to try and build a best of the rest conference and have teams flying all over the country. Teams will fall back within their comfort zone and affiliate with schools that they have a history with.

Because that's not what the quote above said. It didn't say "division". It said "non-western". It would make no sense to want anyone but SMU or Houston (or maybe make a play for Cincy football only) and they don't have any private schools. That's why I think it's Houston.

It didn't say "non-West division member" at all. This is being parsed too much. Non-western means anyone other than Boise State and SDSU. Simple as that.

1.2 million per school (I could be reading wrong)
$1.2 is what it was under the Mtn. This said they can resell games not picked up by CBS to recoup SOME of the loss from the Mtn. So the $1.2 looks like a max, unless the MWC can resell it for more, which seems unlikely.

RE: MWC & CBS reach new agreement...
I think it is just CBS granting some concession after shutting down the Mtn Network. I doubt it's big money. CBS knows it has a good deal with what they pay the MW and have them locked up until 2016. They can wait at least a year to offer a better deal and avoid any other network to start out bidding them.
What the MW has that the BE doesn't is only one other conference in the time zone. I don't know how much of an advantage that is, but for networks looking for western programing, other than the Pac, the MW is the only game in town.
The MW commish played it right by not adding a bunch of teams like CUSA did. He's got options that CUSA doesn't have. And if the worst happened and the MW lost a team or two, they were fine when they had fewer than 10 teams and could do it again. And there's always UTEP, Tulsa and in an emergency, Idaho or New Mexico St that would join.
