For football you shift SMU and Houston west.

Kick ECU & Tulane out.

I think we should kick out USF since they really are not contributing anything. How is your Bowl game prep coming along??

I would love nothing more than to escape this league, so i hope that comes true, but considering USF is one of 3 actual members of the league right now that seems like a long shot. There may even end up being a short time period where USF is the only voting member of the BE if UConn & Cincy get their invites.

BTW, we would of been in a bowl game had we not been duped by your ****** coach.

Interesting. Is he a reliable source? I trust Murphy and he did not convey any feeling that a pull-out from the nBE was forthcoming.

VERY reliable.

That kinda blows. I am sure Boise will be fine, but I have looked forward to being a league with the Florida, Texas and Northeastern schools. And I love the passion that the ECU fans have.

That....would be a crippling blow.

Not really, it just makes a strong MWC and a strong BE about coequal on the stage... and they will fight for the BCS slot each year. As opposed to the BE with west and east divisions, where the CCG is for the BCS slot. Is it all REALLY that different?

I still think the single conference is better, as you join up all the strongest programs on the west and east in a single TV package...

His sources are from the MWC. Of course they will say they are shocked if Boise didn't go back.

Too many factors to say one way or the other. BE football only? BE western division (and with whom)? MWC (and are BYU/UH/SMU coming)? New conference (and with whom)? Just not all that jazzed about going to Bronco Stadium to see Temple, Tulane, Memphis, East Carolina, UConn. No offense to those fine institutions, but they're too far away and no history. If the $$ isn't there, I'd rather see schools that we know.

That is good...ECU fans feel the same way about SDSU and Boise St. It would be best for the west and east to go their separate ways.

RE: Interesting notes from Boise's Brian Murphy on Sportstalk radio last night
Ok stop all the bull 01-rivals. The fact of the matter is the best option is to build the strongest conference we can out the east and west teams. You seem to be loosing sight of a few things . First of all the C7 did not leave this conference because of Tulane ,although I will admit they have not had a very strong athletics department. They left because they realized they no longer had ties with this conference. Second ,how can you say you have no interest in playing any team from the east or west ? It can not be better to play SJSU every year instead of getting a new team come in every season. Neither side has a chance of being the 6th best conference on its own. BYU is the only team left out there that can swing a TV deal on its own for 4 million . So why would they join a west only or east only that could not get them that type of deal? The strongest teams from both sides in all sports is the only way to go. I think a 16 team east and west conference will bring 7-8 million for all sports. This should be enough to get BYU and the next strongest add out west. If you try to stay regional you will remain at the same level of the bottom 4.

I agree.

Which is one of two reasons I dont see it happening. Leaving the BE for the MWC would mean that multiple conferences would take aim at that 6th access bowl slot. And it wouldnt be just the BE and MWC; by splitting you are opening the door to CUSA and others to hop in. Instead of having a member get that slot 9 years out of 10, it may end up being 1 out of 3.

The second is tv markets. I dont believe there is much in tv market revenue with the MWC group. The tv markets for Dallas, Memphis, and Philly are huge compared to that of the MWC schools.

Then again, I never thought the C7 would leave because I assumed they were smart enough to see that they would get more money by staying put. I was wrong, they were dumb enough to do it.

The problems are:

1. There is a pretty rapid dropoff. A 10 or 12-team coast-to-coast conference has a pretty clear separation from the rest. As that number creeps up, and as some of the top choices (BYU, AFA) say "No thanks", there's less "best" and more "rest"

2. The 12 or 14 or 16 best choices are not evenly split east:west by a long shot. The original NBE 12-team plan still had Navy in the West
West: Boise, SMU, UH, BYU, AFA, Navy

As the plans evolved, Memphis came in as a likely "Western" add.

3. There probably isn't a combination of teams outside the power conferences worth $6-8M a year.

That move would be weird. For TV money that is probably less than BE dollars and possibly with boise paying fees to the BE to escape does boise go back to an even more watered down mwc?

And why the hell is byu going to consider going back there. They left when the place was a hell of a lot more respectable. Now it's marginally the dregs.

The only way i see byu joining anything is if it is THEM forming a new conference and hand-picking the teams.

How about kick USF out? They are nothing but a good market just face it. What has UsF ever done (on the field) anyway to be so high and mighty, lol. Keep UCF and kick UsF out- 02-13-banana
