Please at least research before you post. Texas state is 3-3, App state is 1-4 with no DI wins. I see no scenario where App "kills" Texas State. App state has not even lost a DI game by less than double digits. Texas state on the other hand, just won a DI came by double digits.

I'm not sure what point you are making but I assume it is that you beat App, who would "kill" Texas St,who we beat by 9 after being jetlagged and playing them jn the middle of the night in Alaska. Therefore, somehow, ECUs one DI win compares to our 6?

Texas St RPI 204
App St RPI 312

When did UNC-G drop down?

Oh, and with the schedule, we get it, it sucks. Guess what, we agree. There is nothing WE can do about. Why keep bringing it up, over and over and over again.

Oh, and you of all people should know RPI means nothing this early in the season.

App st never played UNCG. I am not referring to ECUs schedule, my mistake. I mistyped. I am referring to Marv's statement that even though we are 6-0 we aren't that good because App (with 0 DI wins) would kill a 3-3 Texas St team that we beat by 9.

I based my statement upon the eye ball test and who they lost to. BTW, I saw the Appy State v. VT game the other day on ESPN3; because I wanted to get a true idea of where ECU is right now in relation to programs in their region. VT is 5-0 in the ACC and they have 2 shared common opponents with ECU (Appy and UNCG). The scores that VT posted over those two teams is near to the score that ECU posted against those some teams (take away that long crazy 3 by Simpson in the UNCG game). Not surprisingly to me, Pomeroy has VT at 80, which is the neighborhood that I think that ECU and Charlotte will be living in around the end of the year.

Would that be the same Virginia Tech that was picked to finish second to last (only ahead of Boston College) by the ACC coaches?

Rivalries can't be rivalries without some poo flinging. Perfect example: For as much as I disagree with SJ and think his spinjob on stats is quite rediculous, he has passion. He has given me a reason to care that we are playing. I actually want to beat ECU almost as much as I want to beat Davidson in their house because of it. Rivalries are a product of school pride, passion, history, and the feeling by one team that they were screwed by another. ECU will be a school in conference that I love to hate 04-cheers

This must be Charlotte's "Super Bowl"

While Charlotte is focused on beating us, we're focusing on winning ACC....I mean er C-USA championships 05-stirthepot

All joking aside, this will be an intense matchup like it always is and luckily we get a Non-D1 and a couple of weeks to game plan and possibly heal before we faceoff against UNC

When was the last time Eastern Carolina started 6-0 playing a full D-1 schedule? ****, have you ever started 6-0?

Luckily for the Fighting Sandra Bullock's they will be in the Big East 7.25 here soon and they won't have to worry about these discussions.

They are 6'7", quick, and are very likely better than anyone App could dream of putting on the court. I'm glad you're admitting now that Guilmette is going to have a garbage game against Charlotte. We shut down a better center last year, and now we have 4 more post players to throw at him.

App had 6-6 200 pound guys like Cantny in the post. That guy was their leading rebounder and is a transfer from Xavier and really more of a wing with his ability to pull post players out to the perimeter. The players you have are all like 6-6, 235lb and no where as quick or have the kind of ball handling or shooting ability there's did, bu they weren't real post players either. Your guys are more traditional post players, just undersized widebody ones. That's the kind Guilmette should match up especially well with.

Quote:2) You mean that the other post players for ECU would have WORSE statistics than that garbage?
Sampson had 18 points 18 rebounds and 2 blocks. He's a lot more suited for a game like that style of game.

2003. We started 7-0 with wins over Ole Miss and Virginia Tech. We lost to George Mason and Coastal Carolina the next couple games, then came back and won the next few including beating a #8 DWade's Marquette team which end up going to the final 4 that year. That was the second year in a row we had beat them while they were in the top 10. So we were 10-2 with a marquee win looking great and then fell apart and only won 2 games the rest of the way.

I wouldn't ride to high just yet. It's not like anyone was picking you to do much of anything this year. Just goes to show anything can happen and one win or an unexpected hot start can be a fluke. That year taught me it's a long season and to not be worried about particular wins or losses to much because you are going to win and lose some you shouldn't and things eventually work themselves out over the course of the year.

Charlotte wins by 10 because ECU is garbage and they dont award 4 pt shots for last year PER and RPI statistics.

RE: ECU @ Charlotte: Rivalry of The Eastern Messiah vs The Black Samurai
Kemp had the 4th highest returning Player Efficiency Rating in CUSA this year. I've seen nothing so far to believe he's not one of the best players in CUSA. I also didn't see him ranked high anywhere else, so when he's putting up this line so far this year that looks like this...

19.5ppg, 8.5rpg, 3apg, 2bpg, 2spg on 53% shooting, 75% from the line

I'd say it got it right and that it's a pretty damn good tool for judging players abilities. It's also pretty ironic that in the NBA the top 100 all time list of who's who hall of famers topped off by Jordan, or that Anthony Davis was the best in college last year at 35.2, the top PER player in CUSA was Barton and he won the POY, or Braswell was your only players over 20 and just happens to be your best players by a mile. There's certainly more truth than not to both RPI and PER over the course of 30 games and when you have only played 4 games this year, PER is certainly relevant to the players we have on the court.

FWIW, the "probability" is 81% Charlotte win with a 10.5 point spread: http://www.rpiforecast.com/teams/Charlotte.html

Realtimerpi hasn't updated for our last two wins, but they were predicting an 8 point Charlotte win with a 72% probability: http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_216_Men.html
NOTE: they also have some of the numbers wrong- i.e., they credit one of our neutral court wins as a home win

One of Charlotte's weaknesses on defense is actually ECU's strength. I watched Charlotte in all 3 games in the Alaskan tournament and for whatever reason Charlotte has a tendency of leaving guys unguarded at the 3 point line. I don't know if that is by design or accident, but they need to have that addressed come Saturday.

I have not watched Charlotte play this season, but I have watched ECU play and I am not confident about either of our next two games.

Things change. I read today we are dumping another 3 million into Minges renovations , new scoreboard, video and additional seating, on top of the 15 million for the new practice facility attached to Minges. All to be completed by next year. We have the 2nd highest paid coaching staff in new CUSA as well. We are finally getting serious about our basketball.

Wow this thread is extremely useless...UNC C fans beating their chest about an average basketball program and ECU fans beating their chests about a bad bball program...

I think that about sums it up..

I already miss Football season 03-banghead
